  1. Well I found out that my good ol linkys crapped out on me. I got around the advertised when hooked up directly to the modem. So now I have some questions. Do you think I should go to a wireless router or stick with wired? Also, I did some research and found that http://www.newegg.com/Product/CustRatingReview.asp?Item=N82E16833124190

is one of the better ones. Do you reccomend another router, or is that a good one?

Also, I am not very knowledgable when it comes to networking.. What do I need to get this hooked up to my computers?

    Thanks guys.

in the search box, hit the down arrow so the autocomplete suggestions show up, then hit the delete key until they're all gone.  or delete selectively...

  4. " Attempting connection to your computer. . .

Shields UP! is now attempting to contact the Hidden Internet Server within your PC. It is likely that no one has told you that your own personal computer may now be functioning as an Internet Server with neither your knowledge nor your permission. And that it may be serving up all or many of your personal files for reading, writing, modification and even deletion by anyone, anywhere, on the Internet!

Your Internet port 139 does not appear to exist!

One or more ports on this system are operating in FULL STEALTH MODE! Standard Internet behavior requires port connection attempts to be answered with a success or refusal response. Therefore, only an attempt to connect to a nonexistent computer results in no response of either kind. But YOUR computer has DELIBERATELY CHOSEN NOT TO RESPOND (that's very cool!) which represents advanced computer and port stealthing capabilities. A machine configured in this fashion is well hardened to Internet NetBIOS attack and intrusion.

Unable to connect with NetBIOS to your computer.

All attempts to get any information from your computer have FAILED. (This is very uncommon for a Windows networking-based PC.) Relative to vulnerabilities from Windows networking, this computer appears to be VERY SECURE since it is NOT exposing ANY of its internal NetBIOS networking protocol over the Internet."

    I'm running Kaspersky

    I win

  5. I don't really think Bill is gonna give anything away.

Here is something really twisted for thought.  Lets say MS has come up with something that will scan your comp or something to make sure that everything is in "order".  If this scan finds something that is amiss; Wamo comp locks up, freezes, deletes itself, goes into thermo-melt down and burns at your feet. :haha:

Moral of the story is you are out of a comp, must spend more $$ either building or buying a new comp, and MS along with all the other companies are going to make more money.

lol so yeah check that senerio out  :haha:

And then Will Smith will pop out of the USB drive and erase your memory with the light, right?

  6. Where is the server site located for adsl guide? You're speeds will definitely be slower to a server in the states compared to one in the uk or europe. You could see if one of the mirrors is located closer to you, and the speeds should be more accurate.

    Edit: 300~!
