  1. If you have a router and modem, the first is value of the router and second value for the modem.

If you do not have a router, then the first value is the modem.

The third value is the ISP central office (CO). For you, the second is Starhub's CO.

You cannot control the lag time in your ISP's line. Lag time there depends on traffic. For example, Starhub has a CO for Bishan. All members will connect to this CO. If many members use the internet at the same time, lag time will be more because many signals are travelling through the same point.

  2. This is my tracert to Malaysia. See the very short time in the first and second hop.

    Trace Output:

    1  203-144-xxx-xxx.static.asianet.co.th 0.422 ms  0.270 ms  0.254 ms

    2  203-144-xxx-xxx.static.asianet.co.th 0.279 ms  0.277 ms  0.250 ms

    3  203-144-144-7.static.asianet.co.th    0.705 ms  0.670 ms  0.704 ms

    4  61.19.15.233 (61.19.15.233)            1.563 ms  1.048 ms  0.823 ms

    5  202.47.253.148 (202.47.253.148)      1.416 ms  1.467 ms  1.753 ms

    6  202.47.253.226 (202.47.253.226)    15.558 ms  15.489 ms  14.680 ms

    7  202.47.252.254 (202.47.252.254)    46.694 ms  46.347 ms  47.503 ms

    8  vlan500-brf-sw03.tm.net.my            44.617 ms  44.141 ms  44.971 ms

  3. I think you modem is placed too near to some other electrical device. Maybe your sound speakers or subwoofer or comp CPU.

The tracert show your first hop (which is signal leaving your modem) has a high time lag - 192 ms.

Most likely from electromagnetic interference. Place your modem a few feet from other devices.

  4. Do a tracert. Click 'Start' and then 'Run'. Type "cmd" into the box and click 'ok'.

A DOS black screen will appear. Type after the C:

    tracert www.e-games.com.my

    and press enter key

When test is completed, move mouse cusor to the DOS black screen, click right and choose 'select all'.

Move mouse cursor to the Quick Reply box of this forum, click right and 'paste'.

  5. "SingNet Broadband 512kbps plans offer download speed of up to 512kbps and upload speed of up to 256kbps"

Your advertised speed is 512/256 Kbps.

The previous ccs file is better. Make sure your modem is not near to other electrical equipment, like sound speakers, phone set, TV, etc.

Traffic now is heavy, especially from Singapore to the US. This is because part of internet traffic from Thailand and Malaysia are also using the same gateway to the Pacific area.

  6. Here is a post regarding a possible fix on wireless interference:

    http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=11877.0

Once your latency gets back to normal, use TCP Optimizer with the following changes:

    TCP window size - 63360

    Window scaling - uncheck

If wireless interefence is minimal, your speed should be 80-90% of advertised and time to download a 1 MB file should be within 3+ seconds.

  7. Are you located overseas? Your Latency is rather high. Your MTU is fixed at 1480. You can raise it to 1492 using below:

    http://www.raspppoe.com/

In the mean time use TCP Optimizer and do the following for MTU 1480 and latency of 200 ms:

    General Settings tab:

    Custom settings - check

Modify All Network Adapters - check

network adapter selection - your NIC

    MTU 1480

    TTL - 64

    TCP Receive Window - 126720

    MTU Discovery - Yes

    Black Hole Detect - No

    Selective Acks - Yes

    Max Duplicate ACKs - 2

    TCP 1323 Options:

    Windows Scaling - check

    Timestamps - uncheck

    Advanced Settings tab:

Max Connections per Server - 10

    Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 20

    LocalPriority - 5

    Host Priority - 6

    DNSPriority - 7

    NetbtPriority - 8

    Lan Browsing speedup - optimized

    QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0

    ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0

    ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 240

    MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0

    NetFailureCacheTime - 0

    NegativeSOACache Time - 0

LAN Request Buffer Size - 32768

Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect
