I will be moving this weekend, and I will need to cancel my DSL service. I signed up for a 1 year contract, which expired on 09/12. Does Verizon give you a hard time about canceling, or is it a smooth process?

lol, too bad!
I have never experienced connection like that...
Thanks for the help. I'm sure there's a rule against using foul language, so I'll keep my thoughts to myself.

First off, let me say the I HATE Verizon. I had no choice, so that's why I have it. I have the 3 Mbps service and it is VERY slow. Are there any settings that will give me more speed??
Thanks!

I'd like to know what's involved as well. I live in an apartment and I am interested in FIOS, but I don't know if it's feasible.
Also, I have read that they need to install stuff on your computer and I'm not sure I want any junk on there cluttering it up. Is it not as simple as plugging it into your modem and/or router??
-
I bought it and installed it myself. I built the PC.
-
No, it's XP home edition.

Yeah. I have a tv card in my computer, but no cable nearby. I am looking for a solution that would enable me to use it without running wires.
-
Is there a product that can wirelessly transmit a tv cable signal?
-
I got a Linksys wireless card and it works great.
-
Looks like I am getting a PCI card. Thanks for all the replies!

You could.. but to get it you would have to have a second connection, wire, from your cable box to your house.. Then on top of that you would have to have a second account.
Still interested.. yes you could load balance the network giving you 12Mbps (theoretical) throughput (2x 6Mbps per wan).. That wouldnt mean that you have 12Mbps to each computer.. That would be half..
Or you could spend about $1000 and have a router that agergates the bandwidth into a super pipe.. that would be 12Mbps to the computer..
Worth the cost? nope..
It's obivously not work the cost. I have a Linksys wireless router. Should I get a linksys wireless card? Would a USB dongle be good enough?
-
no you can not use 2 modems.
So I can't use one modem upstairs and another downstairs? If that's the case then what is a good wireless card for my desktop??
-
I have Comcast cable internet and I just hooked up a new computer. Can I use a different modem to connect to the internet than the one on my other computer?
-
dont worry about what kinda ends, the cable is more important. just go to like a home depot and get a coax crimping kit, its like 15 bucks. its very easy to put the ends on.
I know the cable is more important. I really want to change it.
-
I just put my computer in a different room and the end is off the cable coming out of the wall. What kind of ends should I get to replace them? Gold? I would love to replace the cable, but that isn't an option. I don't have the tool to do it, are they expensive?
-
What is a good cable signal booster? I need one and running new wire is not an option at this point.
-
I just got a new laptop and I need to set up outlook to run with my DSL connection. How do I do it?
Thanks!

Need Router Suggestions for RCN 50MBPS

I'm upgrading to RCN's 50mbps internet and I'm in need of a new router. I've been a Linksys fan in the past, but I've been reading lots of negative reviews about their newer products. Any suggestions?
