I'm not familiar with Spaceway, but I have checked on Wild Blue. It is no longer offered in Michigan, and won't be until end-of-year. There transponders on the current satellite are full and the new satellite won't be operational for Michigan until last quarter 2006. I was also told that Direcway uses encrypted video signals, which slows things down, compared to Wild Blue, which does not (all digital?). Also, browsing is mostly what I do, so I was curious which DW7000 improvement increases the browsing speeds over the DW4000?

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but started with Direcway 3000 and upgraded to DW4000 in July 2002. I have download speeds of about 1400 kbps and upload of about 50 kbps. But, my pings don't look the greatest: Pinging www.testmy.net with 32 bytes of data time = 1942 ms TTL=53 time = 934 ms TTL=53 time = 868 ms TTL=53 time = 743 ms TTL=53 I skipped DW6000 at my installers recommendation (and by the postings am happy to have skipped it). Now I'm looking at DW7000 and was told by the Upgrade Department at Direcway that my 1000 ms pings should be cut in half. Wondering from the knowledgeable DW7000 users whether this is hype or truth?
