Im spending a week at my cousins house, so this is his cable, not mine. Anyways, when cable was laid in their area, it was set up for a subdivision, but it was never built. He has the massive cable running into their house. Its so fast, infact, that they need an attenuator to drop the voltage/whatever going into the modem so that it doesnt fry. My question is: can you buy smaller attenuators, or a better modem, that will allow for faster speeds?
The day they got it, my cousin removed the attenuator and had speeds of 700kb/s and higher, but the modem burnt out in a day and a half (flashing red lights, no connection). Right now, we get around 100-150kb/s, and its obvious that it can go higher.
