  1. At last, my connection's better!!!  :D It seems the problem was in our modem...it was just too old I guess....

    After the replacement, I just did what you guys posted, since it was still slow, and now here's the new result :D

    Thank you for your help Van.

    ::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::

    Download Connection is:: 1672 Kbps about 1.67 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)

    Download Speed is:: 204 kB/s

    Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1)

    Test Time:: 2006/08/12 - 12:02am

    Bottom Line:: 29X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 5.02 sec

    Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 14.657 seconds to complete

    Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 171.87 % faster than the average for host (pldt.net)

  2. Ok, apparently, my ISP is running at 1mbps, and my friend doesn't really believe in those accelerators cuz he thinks that they're just RAM eaters. :)

    And the results...

    TCP options string = 020405ac0103030001010402

    MTU = 1492

    MTU is optimized for PPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput.

    MSS = 1452

    MSS is optimized for PPPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising your MTU value.

    Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 65340

    RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits

    Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 65340

    RWIN is a multiple of MSS

    Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

    511104 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)

    255552 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)

    127776 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

    63888 (MSS x 44)

    bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

    Your TCP Window limits you to: 2613.6 kbps (326.7 KBytes/s) @ 200ms

    Your TCP Window limits you to: 1045.44 kbps (130.68 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

    MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

    Time to live left = 121 hops

    TTL value is ok.

    Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

    Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

    IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

    As for the D/L Speed...it became faster...a bit  :)

    Your connection is: 158 Kbps or 0.16 Mbps

    You Downloaded at: 19 kB/s

    You are running: 3 times faster than 56K and can Download 1 megabyte in 53.89 second(s)

    Test Browser and OS info: Opera/9.00 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)

    Diagnosis ^info^: May need help : running at only 27.38 % of your hosts average (pldt.net)

    This was tested from a 386 kB file and took 20.015 seconds to complete

    Thanks again for helping  :thumbsup:

  3. I did what you said, and this was the result, and, btw, thanks for the welcoming. Sorry if I'm still noob to these things... Oh, and the asterix disappeared

  4. My computer's running on Windows XP SP2 and my ISP is PLDT DSL (Philippines) with an average of more or less 512kbps.

    Apparently, I'm only running at

    Your connection is: 81 Kbps or 0.08 Mbps

    But my friend's result, with the same ISP and plan is

    Your connection is: 4375 Kbps or 4.38 Mbps

    You Downloaded at: 534 kB/s

    You are running: 76 times faster than 56K and can Download 1 megabyte in 1.92 second(s)

    which just makes me so frustrated with my download speed  :angry5:

    I tried using TCP Optimizer, but I'm not sure how to use it....

    And the analyzers' results are:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    TCP options string = 020405ac01010402

    MTU = 1492

    MTU is optimized for PPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput.

    MSS = 1452

    MSS is optimized for PPPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising your MTU value.

    Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 15972

    RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits

    Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 15972

    RWIN seems to be set to a very small number. If you're on a broadband connection, consider using a larger value.

    Your TCP Window limits you to: 638.88 kbps (79.86 KBytes/s) @ 200ms

    Your TCP Window limits you to: 255.552 kbps (31.944 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

    Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

    MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

    Time to live left = 57 hops

    TTL value is ok.

    Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

    Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

    IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 11110000 (240)

    Precedence (priority) = 111 (Network Control)

    Delay = 1 (low delay)

    Throughput = 0 (normal throughput)

    Reliability = 0 (normal reliability)

    Cost = 0 (normal cost)

    Check bit = 0 (correct, 8th checking bit must be zero)

    DiffServ (RFC 2474) = No valid DiffServ equivalent. See the TCP Optimizer documentation, or RFCs 2474, 2475, 2597, 2598, 2873.
