  1. Hello, I dont understand why my speeds dont exceed Van Burens since my cable modem is uncapped.  I have the fastest Midco has to offer.  Ok i did finially get a big improvent to the tests at this by using that otmizer thing and setting it to 20Mb connection.  but all the other test sites will give me like 3 to 6 depending on which one i go too.  like DSL Reports never gives me anything higher then a 5.8 but which amazes since theres nothing holding my cable modem back i should be blowing the doors off so to speak.

Im running through an older computer specs are:

    Win XP Pro

    AMD Athlon 700

    512MB Ram

    80Gig 7200 8mb buffer HD

    TNT2 AGP Card

    LG DVD Burner

    19Inch Wide Screen LCD

The only software i keep running in the back ground is Symantecs Antivirus Corp Ver 10

I dont use a software firewall just use the NAT and SPI running through my Netgear Router WGT624 Ver 3

and its a wireless router but i have that portion disabled.

I know most of its probably my computer.  I am a maitance geek always keeping everything optimized.

What do you think that i could do or why do you think that this is happing to me.

    My cable modem is Ambit.

    Thanks for you help

This was my last speed test i took after using vanburens cable nut 100mb one

  2. I dont understand why my connection isnt faster then yours since my cable modem is uncapped.

wow, i tested again this time with Firefox, and then test freaked out ...

my upload is way too high and download is too low..

my connection is capped at 100 Mbps down and 13 Mbps up

this is what Firefox gave me

  4. Wow awsome speeds only i could get like that but then maybe since i am running on a slower computer, 700 Athlon with 512mb Ram thats probably why the cpu cant calculate that high of a speed because right now i just upgraded to Midco.net highest speed they offer and thats an uncapped download and a 512 upload.  Uncapped i think i should be screaming fast but before on this site i was only getting around 5500 down even after the upgrade from 8mb down to uncapped. so then i downloaded the speedguide optmizer and set it around 8mb but that made it worse so then i moved it all the way to twenty and that made a big difference as you can see.

  5. ive tried to tweak my settings and actually seemed to make things a little slower

Have either of you (IowaHawkeyesFan or bryanlautt) tried tweaking your connection?  :?:

First off I will insist you make sure it is clean. Get out your brooms ( just kidding )

    http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-4257

And then there is cablenut or TCP Optimizer.

    http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-1013

Cablenut seems to be more popular, but the TCP Optimizer is a lot less aggravating and hard on my brain.

Actually on my satelite connection it is faster also.  ;) Tried both.

I think you both could go a little faster.  :)

    Just a thought.

Enjoy your stay at TMN, I hope you brought your humor along. :icon_jokercolor:

It does get silly sometimes.

  6. This what i average at this site, but www.speakeasy.net/speedtest its faster there it tells you to click the closer server to you and run it and there i get around 7500 down so that tells me that the farther away the test server the slower your connection will be.

Your connection is: 5613 Kbps or 5.61 Mbps

    You Downloaded at: 685 kB/s

You are running: 98 times faster than 56K and can Download 1 megabyte in 1.49 second(s)

  7. I have Midco.net out of SD its a cable connection, they have two packages one is the regular 8000/256 and the other one is uncaped down/512 up I used to have the uncaped one and got around 11 to 14Mb connection but after i hooked up netgear router it slowed down to the reg connection

Welcome to the forum bryanlautt

Nice speeds. So what type of connection is that anyway?
