  1. Yea granpa, the weather was turning crappy, then we had snow last night. I have had some pretty crappy tests over the weekend tho in good weather, as we've already Pm'd over. As for the info you gave me, yes, I understand what your saying re: traffic etc and speeds. I do think it sucks how a provider offers a service stating you"can" get speeds up to such and such but realistically they know you wont, but thats buisness I guess, and I pretty well had an idea of it before I got into the satellite system. Right now I just have to make my decision on whether or not i'm going to keep it hooked up or go back to my dial up, as I don't want to pay for both. Dail up sucks but it does allow me to do most things I want to do ( gaming), surfing etc. Then satellite allows me to watch videos (after buffering alot) but I have been finding it slower on some net surfing then dial up. They both have their goods and bads, just up to me now to pick. btw, dont know if I showed you this one, but this was myy worst test from the weekend http://www.speedtest.net/result/74102661.png

  3. Was exactly what I was talking about tommie...thx
  4. Is there any way of deleting all that info without deleting all your info for forums your logged into. Kind of a pain having to log in to everything after cleaning. Btw , lol, my satellte internet, I was trying to load this page for 3 or 4 minutes and it wouldn't load it all the way, got fed up and dissconnected and used my dial up, got in within 10 seconds! LOL, gota like that!
  5. Hello, you've come to the right place for help if you need it!
  6. Lol, not lost yet granpa! If im not mistaken, i'm to be able to get speeds "up to" 512Kbps download and 128Kbps upload. Now I ahve noticed yesterday after doing alot of speed tests that this does run quite rampat. I had gotten as high as 380 and as low as 90 for my dload speeds. Sometimes it seems like there is no activity going back and forht from the server ans my computer when im waiting for a page to load, so i'll click the computer icon in the system tray and and it shows no info being sent or recieved. I find videos off of youtube for the most part will not play without stopping to buffer also. But, it is better than dial up for te most part. here's my test from this morning . :::::::::::::::::.. testmy.net test results ..::::::::::::::::: Download Connection is:: 491 Kbps about 0.49 Mbps (tested with 579 kB) Download Speed is:: 60 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 92 Kbps about 0.1 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Upload Speed is:: 11 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/01/11 - 5:59am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-V51PHINAM U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-1RZMSE456 User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)
  7. Not sure, I have the KaZam pkg, i'll have to look.
  8. Just got my Xplornet hooked up this morning...here's my test results. Installer said my modem had to update so may be a bit slower then it should be for a little bit due to updates :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 408 Kbps about 0.41 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Download Speed is:: 50 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 92 Kbps about 0.1 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Upload Speed is:: 11 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/01/10 - 9:12am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-database_down_for_maintenance___score_not_logged U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-database_down_for_maintenance___score_not_logged User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) [!]
  9. Your opinion is valued by me granpa, and once again as I said in my PM's to you, thanks for your help! So , this goes out to the rest of your satellite internet users. Satellite internet over dial up internet....is it worth it or not! I'll be going with Xplornet..gonna be more headache then fun??? Dish and equipment is already paid for, so I just have to pay probably $150-$200 for hook up. If it;s gonna be a headache and not work any better than dial up, idk, maybe it's not worht tha hassle. Dial up is all I can get as of now so this satelite is my only option! Opinions appreciated!
  10. Lol..ok tommie. As for me connecting at 115.2kbps, I didn't figure that was actual when I posted it, but for whatever reason, when I hover over my connection icon in my taskbar it says im connected at that. Again, that is since I put that code in my ISP told me, before that I was always 42.5 kbps
  11. This good or bad? Back along time ago when I was calling constantly complaining to my ISP about me getting booted while gaming, the gave me a extra initialization command to put in the extras line in my modems advanced settings. I hadn't tried it in a while so reading all thsi stuff sparked my memory about it. I did a test before I entered that code and if I read it right I was @ 4kbps dload and connecting @42.5...now it's saying when I connect that im @115.2 kps Don't know if thats possible but thats what it's showing. Btw, im new to the forums in case any of you didn't see my post in the general section, nice to meet you all. I feel quite stupid in here after reading what you guys know..man, it's hard to grasp alot of what you talk about! ::::::::::.. testmy.net test results ..:::::::::: Download Connection is:: 48 Kbps about 0.05 Mbps (tested with 97 kB) Download Speed is:: 6 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 23 Kbps about 0 Mbps (tested with 97 kB) Upload Speed is:: 3 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 2) Test Time:: 2007/01/08 - 9:03pm D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-0X8MZR314 U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-A1PQMDWU2 User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)
  12. Nobody here able to give me any ifo on the installation of my dish? Im on dail up now and from some of the negative stuff I see here on Xplornet, im kind of leary of hooking it up. Seeing people are having problems with their speeds and service from Xplornet, almost sounds like it might be more of a pain than anything..idk ? If I could , i'd like to be able to get this thing hooked up myself, and that way if I dont care for it i'm not out alot of money for a hookup.
  13. oppps , I guess maybe I need glasses as well as satellite info. Thx for the info.
  14. Thx coknuck....one other thing that maybe im missing here, is there anywhere on these forums that when I visit , that I can click on that will just show me new posts since my last visit. like view all unread posts?
  15. Hello to you all, I just stumbled across this forum today while looking for info on Xplornet, and I have some questions i'm hoping I can get some help with from someone here. You guys all sound so knowledgable about satellite internet and I know absolutley nothing so please bare with me. I have recently picked up a Xplornet KA-Band two way satellite system. Before I go into a long post here, does anyone here have the know-how on how to install these systems and get them beamed in to their signal? Any replies appreciated Thank you simi
