  1. A PLDT area manager called me after I called tech support and told me that we were connected to the wrong port, we were connected to the one that offers only 400Kbps max instead of the 1.2mpbs. Sheesh! She said she would see what she could do to settle this problem. I hope she does or the DTI will settle this!

As for morlock, what plan are you on? Have you tried calling tech support?

so, there is such a thing as a port for different speeds huh. anyway, i'm already satisfied with my DSL+phone bundle Plan 990 because the advertised speed should only be 384 kbps / 192 kbps but im getting 800+ kbps when downloading.

good luck on buzzing your PLDT tech support.

  2. But for the minor issues... it's useless to call them. You get silly requests like, putting the PC directly to the SM. And asking me what OS I use... (I don't use Windows)... what DNS am I using... blah blah blah blah... :D

yep, those canned call center questions.. makes you look dumb.  :idiot2:

  3. I've been with Smart Bro since 2006. =) According to my transaction history... Since April 2006. ;)

Never had the time to go through all that paperwork to subscribe to another provider... Besides, I'm not always home... and I usually just do emails or the occasional Skype and VoIP calls. And I'm taking advantage of the unlimited access to Airborne Access hotspots for an additional fee. Yeah, Smart has been having major screw-up's the 2 years I have been with them... but nothing yet to piss me off so much that it'll make me switch. The DNS glitch is just a minor issue (for me)... a stop-gap solution would be not to use their DNS at all. ;)

The contractor mentioned that (selling of Canopy SM's) as well... he said that it's just a matter of 'cloning' the MAC address of an active Smart BRO account's PC (quite easy with routers with a push of a button). No hardware hacking involved as I initially thought... just a loophole on Smart's end. Well... that's what he said anyway...

Also to add... they seem to be migrating to a new system. Maybe starting from scratch for new users? I noticed that on the new base station (color code) the Smart BRO portal login page is different. You'll log-on with your Service Reference Number, and Account Number. With the old 'portal', it's just a simple username and password prompt.

at least you've been getting the service you need from smartbro.

exactly.. that's the new system they have.. basically before you will need a username and password, but in this case the service reference number and the account number as your  password. in this method, it won't identify the MAC address of the LAN card you are using, but instead it's going to identify the MAC ADDRESS of your Subscriber Module/Antenna..  in this way, you don't need to call them for reset in an event that you get locked out by using a different PC with a different LAN Card. a good move.. BUT....  i got two canopies. one i use here in the city and the other one i use it in our province around 80KM away from this place.. when i tried to set it up last Friday i was asked for my Service Reference and my Account Number... it did went in but i says "FAILED ACCOUNT REACTIVATION" since my SM was not registered on to that particular AP.. so what i did is call them and have them reset my connection.. they called me after 4 hours and i was able to surf.. without any problem....

i was worried that if i'll go back to the city i will have to do it again, BUT IM SURPRISED since when i turned on my PC i was able to surf the net without having to input the username/password or the Service reference and account number and i was able to browse.. still a glitch..

hey, that's like getting two lines for one subscription!  i wonder if you can put two canopies in your house (using one account) and bridge the connection so it will be faster.. hmmmm..

  4. i agree. but i suggest you switch to a dsl after your contract.

IMO, Smart can't really handle all the buzz they've been getting from their service. the base station being misconfigured, canopy being hacked (or tweaked, for that matter), and people who ended their smartbro's subscription and sold it to others so they can hack into a base station, get IPs and get a free internet subscription with smart.

    all's going too well.

  5. it seems there's inconsistency issue here on pldt plan offers esp. on the costs.

anyways, elijahpaul, how would you like tweaking MyDSL using TCP Optimizer? I believe there's still room for improvement.

already did all the tweakin there is-- tcp and registry tweaks. i even opened the config page (like that of smartbro's canopy) of zyxel p-600 modem.

I used to be one of the first connected through SMARTBro, only because our area wasn't myDSL ready yet. Lousy service all around for a year and half.

A neighbor of mine who (I didn't know at the time) is a PLDT employee told me to switch to myDSL because our area was activated already. He helped with the application and installation himself, and I was up and running in no time.

I got the Plan 999 then, which was a guaranteed 512Kbps with a burst of 768Kbps. Now I believe our area has been upgraded to that 1280Kbps speed. Oh, yeah, I live in the Novaliches, Quezon City area.

So, bottom line. Very satisfied (so far).  :wink2:

hah! seems like all of us came from smartbro. anyway, i think my bandwidth here is capped by a limiter. i know a tweak which inlvoves manipulating something in my phoneline but i haven't tried it yet, too lazy and i don't have much time.

  6. Any of you being visited by Smart lately to change your Canopy SM's?

my friend was visited last year. he lives on a big compound with 2 smart bro connections. i told him to tweak his canopy but then after a week, he told me he was visited by Smart and was asked not to tinker with the canopy settings again.

quite shocking. he even blamed me for it. haha!

  7. i haven't paid anything yet. PLDT told me the cost is P1650 all in all for the installation and 1st month subscription

why is it different? i remembered paying P2,500 (not P1,200) for the modem only, since the installation is free. they said i will pay my first month subscription when the bill comes at the end of the month.  :?

  8. I'm confused with all the plans of pldt mydsl so I just wanna ask this, Does PLDT have a plan for those people that does not have PLDT landline? We have a landline but it's from a local company in our area.

i guess you gotta have their landline. why don't you quit your old phone and apply for the Landline+DSL package? or just add another phone line in your house.

  9. Woah, elijahpaul! Welcome to myDSL  :2funny:

I also switched to myDSL Experience Plan (999/1Mbps)

For now, my speeds are way too low (300-400Kbps). I called up customer service (fast response) and they said they filed a report. I will have to check back in 2-3 days and see if they really did their job... You applied for the bundled plan, right? I applied for the separate line: Phone line of Php600 and DSL of Php999.

By the way, where are you located? And Flash also... I am in Zamboanga

hope they fix your connection. i'm in Baguio.

  10. Hi all,

It's been a month when I first filed an application for a landline+dsl (Plan 990). Finally, i'm connected again! (used to be a Smart BRO user) [nerd]

All I can say is, wow. The advertised speed is at par with the tested speed that i got from testmy.net and another site (I haven't done any tweaking on my registry or hardwares yet).

How bout y'all? What can ya say about myDSL? [geek]

  11. hi guys.. i haven't been around for a couple of months. the reason is, i'm focusing on my studies as a 4th year college student.

anyway, thanks to those who appreciate my tutorials and gave me a PM.

to those who were trying to make me sell the override plug and ship it to you, i'm very sorry but I don't have the time for it and the plug is very hard to find.

i will be checkin' back on this forum once in a while but i wouldn't be able to reply to your PMs. [nerd]

just so you know, i'm switching to PLDT myDSL (I've moved out of my parents' house). my reason is, it's cheaper and much faster, plus i get a landline. another reason is, the smartbro account hack is spreading like wildfire. that's why networks are getting clogged pretty much faster in SMART.

with that, i want to give everybody a good luck and happy tweakin while you're still stuck at the Bro!  :buck2:

    peace y'all!

    @coolbuster

keep up the good work bro! hands down to you!

  12. what's RJ-11 GPS sync port? where can i find it? is it the white box? if it is, where should i put it?

it's located under the SmartBRO antenna. here's a tip: assess the canopy antenna, look for the button you can push to open and slide down the bottom area and the empty RJ-11 socket should be the GPS sync port.

  13. @ everybody esp on elijahpaul

I have to make some additions, yesterday, i went to Ace Hardware and asked them about the CAT 5 and RJ-11 Plug, but the clerk said that it is not an RJ-11 but instead, a 6-pin RJ-45.. He added that RJ-11 are used in phone lines and dialup connections..

    Hope that helps!!

    Good day!!

    :smitten:

nah.. it is RJ-11. actually the names differ based on socket it fits in. RJ-45s are for LANs and RJ-11s are for telephones. and btw, the socket that you are going to put the override plug is the size that of a phone line so its definitely RJ-11.  [nerd]

  14. Good for you. Smart is currently doing upgrades for most of Baguio City area.

They upgraded my AP just a week ago. The thing is there was no change in my speed. In fact it slowed down. Must have been a downgraded instead  :tickedoff:.

wala ka ba problema sa request time outs mula sa DNS servers nila?

no i don't have any problems with that. let's try to speak in English bro. remember  that this is an international forum.

Yeah they are upgrading, i noticed an increase in my download speed.
