  1. I agree on the linux. Give me Ubuntu. Also yes it it a proper license. Already took the number off the sticker. MS says it's good. I also have to look at support. XP is coming to the end of the road. No matter how much we like it. It's time to move on. I also have at home Vista Ult. SP2. I have not had a days problem with it. You need a newer machine though. I bought mine from Gateway new in 2007. That is coming to an end. So the other alternative is W8! NO Thank You. I tried the beta. I don't think itis going to be a good seller. Thanks for your input, both of you. When Ihave some time to look more at it.I will let you know what I decide.

  2. What a long and envolved process that is. I see that it is written in Grub. I used that when I first was learnig Linux. A very simple question as brought up from Conuck. Can I just reformat and put 7 on it and not wory about someone else headache. Or would I still have the password problem after that. I will be the only user. It is not going back to anyone else. So i don't think there is a need to save anything. I could be wrong. What are your gentlemen's opinion. I will defer to your better judgment.

  3. I actually don't know how to do this. I have been given an old Dell Box with XP OEM on it. The person giving it to me has long forgotten the LOGON. How do I make this box usefull again. I would like to use it myself. No one else will be using it. I would like to put Win 7 on it also. If it is sensitive info please do not post send in e-mail or IM. If I need to take it somewhere. Please let me know.

  4. I wanted to speak about the choices. I like the choices. Some times because of a routing problem. I am not able to get a good read from Dallas. It has nothing to do with the server. When I find that I use DC and it usually winds up what I am expecting. The same for Seattle since I am on the west coast. It gives me alternatives to show me that something is going on. Dallas seems to give me slower reads. I did Tracerouts of it. It shows I have lousy routing from here to Dallas. Therefore slower reads. I don't seem to have that with D C or Seattle. My Pings are better to them and my jitter is better to them.

  5. Has anyone given the thought of using Dragon instead of a keyboard. I use it all the time. I can also give commands so I don't use the mouse as much.I thought of voice activation as a unusually odd way of doing things. The more I get used to it the more it becomes easy. Since I use Vista it comes free with Ultimate package. What's better than free of extra cost. So I have the choice or the one that came with the program or Dragon.

Ever since they made 10 Meg. standard its been going up ever since. I guess competition is good for the customer. At least here.

It takes a little bit extra to get used to the new board. I'll get used to it the more I use it.

Sorry, I forgot it was dual test.

  10.    Especially when Sony came out with the Trinitron picture tube.  I also worked on stereo sound for television.  Which is standard in every TV today. Amazing how fast technology goes today. When I started the minicam weighed 80 lbs. There was no newsvans. I picked up 16mm film on a Z-1 Motorcycle and took it to the station. Now everything is on a server or hard drive.  No more tape. By the way the minicam now weighs 23 lbs. with battery.
