    Toshiba PCX5000 Anygood???

    Anyone know where to get a PCX5000??

    I had this modem and IT WAS 1000% BETTER THAN THE GARBAGE THEY GAVE ME LAST WEEK! (SMC router)

    This thing is pure garbage and i wish i had my PCX modem back... (Something got stuck in the connector or something and it wouldnt authenticate anymore (My connector came off and i had the hair-type wiring pushed right in the connector (It worked for a couple days)))

    The other day i had 7 tabs open on a website AND I LOST THE CONNECTION TO THE SITE,ROUTER WAS RE-DIRECTING ME TO www.wsearch.net!! (I WAS VERY PISSED OFF I had to close the browser and restart it thus LOSING ALL TABS)

    The only thing i didnt like about my PCX5000 was it kept locking up on me.... (THE CABLE LEVEL INTO MY ROOM WAS WEAK AND AS A RESULT THE TRANSMIT WAS TOO HIGH ON THE MODEM (USUALLY OVER 50db))

    Does anyone here know where i can buy one??

    They are still listed on TOSHIBA's site but sadly they dont sell them anymore :(

    The PCX5000 was the BEST cable modem i ever had.......

    Im am also getting a 404 error on the pic,so i DLed the image to my computer (Preview worked fine in the folder i placed it in) and uploaded it for easy viewing :)

    Do you have attachments set correctly CA3LE?? -- They are supposed to open a new tab and display in that... When i click the attachment disturbed added above,i got a box asking if i wanna DL it and then displays a 404 error after DLed.... (Im using IE6 (With MyIE2 in front))

    Might wanna check your settings for JPG,PNG,GIF attachments :)

    I just had to see this image as so many were saying they couldnt.. (And i couldnt either @ first)

    Over 13 years easily......

    Started on a 300 baud modem using a commodore 64 :) (Which i still use and love)

    I remember a few years ago being on vacation and being stuck @ 28800 baud and it didnt seem to slow for what it was!! (I was used to 2400 baud for the longest time in the 80s which wasnt that bad))

    I finally figured out how to do it in wmp9!!

    When the embedded crap loads in your player click VIEW/GOTO then click 'Copy to CD or Device' .. Wait until that screen loads on your player then click VIEW/GOTO and click "Now playing" again.....

    Now you have the stream WITHOUT ANY EMBEDDED CRAP!!

    I knew i could do it,wmp9 is the best of that series!!

    Since i have been using XP while waiting for my desk to be fixed i have using wmp10 and 1 thing i like about it is: THE ABILITY TO DISABLE ENHANCED CONTENT IN STREAMS!! (Spam ads,crap that bogs down your player)

    I dont think you can disable it in 9 im not sure......

    Does anyone know what file controls this function?? (IT IS K-RAD!!)

    I was thinking of swapping the file on my computer and seeing if MAYBE it would them work on 9 also

    When the box comes up asking to allow the "Enhanced content" click no...... Then load the stream again and click YES and see what i mean!!

    IF YOU DONT GET PROMPTED YOU MIGHT HAVE TO GOTO TOOLS/OPTIONS/SECURITY and UNCHECK "DO NOT PROMPT ME BEFORE PLAYING ENHANCED CONTENT...." THEN LOAD THE STREAM AGAIN :)

    I found out what key in the reg triggers this

    HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftMediaPlayerPreferences

    DWORD key: "HTMLViewAsk" with a value of 1

    When i put this key into my wmp9 entries it still doesnt prompt me which means there is 1 file that 10 uses that has this in it that 9 doesnt have in its copy........

    wmp.dll OR wmpcore.dll or something and if anyone knows what file it is,it would be awesome!!

    I suppose i could search ALL FILES for a certain word on the XP upstairs and see if it may come up,i dunno............ ("Enhanced" maybe)

    An interesting project!!

    I just tried it on an XP computer and it just basically uses "DISK CLEANUP" w/o going to the app itself.. (Nothing special about this) At least thats what it looked like came up and said it was cleaning this,that,etc..........

    What if you didnt have "Disk cleanup.exe" on your computer what would happen then?? (Maybe thats why i got the error on my computer. (I deleted that app long ago))
