  1. Maybe run a traceroute too, see if there's any loss in the first 2 lines, or anywhere for that matter.

ie. "tracert google.com" in the command prompt.

If there are any losses or high times to the router or modem, ping it a few times to see more accurate results

    ie.  ping -n 50 x.x.x.x (IP of modem/router)

maybe reinstall TCP/IP stack, make sure NIC drivers are up to date, firmware is good, etc.....

  4. Hello dolaronron, and welcome!

The first thing you want to find out is:

    A) if it's a problem with the modem (doesn't seem likely)

    B) if it's a problem with the router, or the ports in the router

    C) if it's a problem with the computer, or the ethernet port for your network card

    D) if it's a problem with the cables

The best way to find this out is to connect a device direct to the modem and try all the cables with it.  Also, switch around with the ports in the router.

It is also important to be power cycling properly when you are switching devices (device = PC, XBox, router).  Powercycling in the right order is key to good communication between devices and is especially important when you have a router involved.  What you want to do is:

-shut everything down (PC's, XBox's, router, and cable modem)

-let it sit about a minute and tighten up the physical connections

-bring up your modem first and wait for 4 solid lights (power, receive, send, online)

-bring up the next device (router, or maybe PC if directly connected)...you should see a flashing amber "PC activity" light on the modem

-if you just brought up the router, then bring up the PC's and XBoxes.

Also, maybe check the device manager in the emachines PC to see if the network adapters are showing any conflicts.

This is just a start, but covers a lot of hardware-related bases, which sounds to be your issue.  Try these and then get back if it don't work!

  5. hey hey hey now...crash dummies???...don't make me smack ya...leave MY panties outta this...i think we were talkin about fallow's...huh?...but what ever flips urs :D

  6. never used a mac execpt once

and it wanst that great the expirience

can any one explain me whats good about them?

I am both a windows and a mac user....i love mac, but i will try to be unbiased for a moment:

    mac = stable

mac = not windows! (oops, screw the unbiased deal  :evil6:)

    mac = open source

mac = more user friendly (in my opinion anyway, way more straightforward, less dinking around to get something done...fewer steps is what i mean)

mac = not targetted for near as many viruses (yet, also related to small percentage of marketshare as compared with windows)

mac = great multiple OS capability/meshing

mac = great/simple networking and filesharing capability

mac = great tech support (seriously)

mac = all components - soft- and hardware - are designed to work perfectly together = NO CRASHES (not in my experience anyway)

mac = cool software! (garageband, finalcut)

mac = hard to switch to, impossible to switch back from

There, whew....I should send it into apple for an ad.  but seriously, i stand as one converted: i started with windows, got used to it and was completely anti-macs (they just seemed weird: "where's start?!") until I really got in and dirty with them.  Now i love them.  Well, there's my testimony, take it or leave it.

  7. Well I'm not from Canada, But I have been there several times.

The only thing I don't understand is why the food there tastes like crap but the beer is sooooo goooood !

    :occasion14:

Maybe you just don't know where to eat up here, CRE8OR!  It doesn't matter tho, if you've got a barley and hops sandwich or two in hand, that about as true (and as good) a Canadian meal as it gets, breakfast, lunch AND dinner.

  8. The problem with the here is the violence is so bad its just not in the big citys anymore. Our kids are killing each other in school. Parents are killing there kids. I guess I just really dont see a whole lot comming from the great white north along thoes lines. It would be intresting to know ratio wise if america is truly the worst about this kind of violence. I would have to rule out the middle east and such because thier beliefs differ so much from ours. I will say the middle east is much tougher on there criminials.

There is definitely some nasty stuff that goes down in our notoriously good-natured country.  Just recently I remember a story about a marijuana grower who took out 4 RCMP (federal) officers during a bust before turning the assault rifle on himself.

    There's sickos everywhere, even here.
