  1. So...... if you were able to do a Firmware update you can access the routers interrface. via 192.168.1.1 >??? On older LinkSys routers, the default username is blank and the default password is "admin." On newer Linksys routers, both the default username and the default password are set to "admin." check polarcloud.com and see if that particular router can take Tomato Firmware......if it can you'll be much happier.
  2. Quite outdated but non the less... I wonder if he got his call?
  3. Ah...there we go... a good read http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/241/RipOff0241499.htm
  4. try the Above #24 post first then this. Step1Take the Router in hand with NO CABLES attached other than the Power. Step2Find the reset button your Linksys router. Most Linksys models have the reset option on the back of the router. Step3Use a pointed pen or pencil to press in the reset button on your Linksys router. Make sure you don't slip off the tiny button or this won't work Step4Hold down the reset button for approximately 30 seconds. Do step 4 again. Step5Watch the lights on the front of the router. After you reset the router, power will get restored to the Linksys router. Once power's available, you can switch the modem back on. Step6Reconfigure your router. After you reset your router, you'll have to log in and reconfigure your settings. The login name is typically left empty with your password as "admin."
  5. Take a look @ this picture and follow the instructions..remember to use Ethernet and NOT wireless connection turn off the wireless in the laptop,.
  6. Put the PC withing the same subnet as shown and try it...... also check to see if the router is handling DHCP by Start/Run type cmd....hit enter.... type ipconfig/all and see if its giving a IP Take a look @ the picture iv'e provided.setup your Ethernet NIC to the same as whats in the picture.
  7. Back in the day it was transponder over crowding and I'm talking only a few years ago Satellite was the only game in Town well the rural community It seems to be a dead horse in this area of Ontario/Canada where WISPS now overcrowd the 2.4GHz and 900MHz frequency spectrum. Even EVDO and the newer Rogers HSDPA is available pretty much anywhere. There will always be those who cannot get these services and have no choice other than Satellite I realize this. I'm just curious if things have improved with more and more customers moving on? PS hi there Tommie long time noC
  8. With all these people moving onward to newer and better Internet/Data solutions has it made the experience of Satellite Internet faster and more pleasurable? congrats on the EVDO Sparky.
  9. I have this.....if you would like it. PM me. Bandwidth Meter Pro is an easy-to-use network software for bandwidth usage monitoring, reporting, and notification. It monitors traffic of all network connections on your computer and displays graphical and numerical download and upload speeds in real-time (refer to screen shot below). It logs bandwidth usage and provides how much bandwidth was used by each network connection on your computer in daily, weekly and monthly.
  10. LOL funny you would reply Sparky.... I haven't been on this since mar 2008... checked my inbox...i had 2 messages.both from you. It was in regards to wireless internet access but the ISP was to far away from you... I see you went EVDO.
  11. Here is a picture of my outdoor Access Point. I'm running Tomato Firmware on two wrt54gl routers mounted in weathertight enclosures outdoor. WDS/Access Point Mode
  12. BitMeter 2 is a bandwidth meter, it allows you to visually monitor your internet connection by displaying a scrolling graph that shows your upload and download speed over time. BitMeter is freeware - ie. it is given away completely free of charge, there is no trial period, no time-limited features, no spyware, and no adware, guaranteed Google it
