It's a bold move.. however Microsoft doesn't have leverage in terms of tightly controlling the user experience, unlike Apple. -

The thing with Apple is that they've got a lockdown on their entire supply chain from software to hardware and everything in between. They wield ultimate control over the entire user experience. -
