Right now I am running a K6-2 500Mhz. CPU and 192Meg's of ram and WinXP Pro and believe it or not it runs really good, (No multi-tasking though) but what I see that most don't is that I have tried FF on several occasions, when I start FF it takes about 10 to 12 seconds to even come up and then it takes forever to render the page, where as IE 6 SP2 starts in about 2 to 3 seconds and almost immediately renders the page, If I go surfing with FF it doesn't do too bad and when I run a download or upload test it's virtually the same as IE.
I am not sure how everone has there system setup but with SP2 installed IE6 asks if you want to install an activeX when surfing to certain sites.
Also it has pop-up blocker that works very good for me, every once in a while a pop-up slips through but not very often.
What I here mostly from FF die hards is (the security is better) and I say BS, Why do you think they keep pumping out new versions ?
And the thing I hear is (it has tabbed browsing) I personally don't have any use for that but even so IE7 will have that plus.
I don't waste time hating FF I just love IE so much.
just remember it's.......Chevrolet,Baseball,Hot Dogs, Apple Pie,The Girl Next Door, and Internet explorer........YEEEHAAAW! :D

When I think of "hacker" I think of just about everybody that are in to computers, because in a way there is a little bit of hacker in all of them, and I'm not saying in a bad way, it's just natural to want to be the best at what you do and if you have that knowledge, you probably are very good at what you do.
When it comes to computers I figure I am fairly average, maybe a little above average and I sometimes wish I would like to learn more so I could hack the "crackers" for all the crap they put people through that are just trying to use PC's for fun and or business purposes, and they have to run anti-spyware....anti-virus....anti-trojan ware and firewalls just to get on the net.
Oh well that's what I think anyway....

I don't know if you ever used Ebay or not, but you could check there for a used one, sorry I can't help more........good luck..

LOL!
Here's the best one for your MB.....
C1116
-
nope mine is a 1000/256/133/1.75
dont know if the processer will run @ 100
It probably would run at 100Mhz FSB but then it would only be 750Mhz.
-
wanna gimme one? or sell it REAL cheap?!?!?!
LOL!
Here's the best one for your MB.....
C1116 Pentium III 1GHz FC-PGA 100MHz FSB 256K Socket 370 OEM Processor
Warranty 30 Days Standard Warranty
60 Days Extended Warranty (Add $5.00)
90 Days Extended Warranty (Add $10.00)
$80.00
-
also if you are into overclocking back in them days we used to take a celeron 66 Mhz FSB. CPU and run it at 100Mhz.FSB and cool the hell out of them, other than that you might want to see what deerkill has and make sure they are 100Mhz. FSB...
this is what you would want to end up with..
C1320
-
So, I CAN use Slot 1, id rather use Slot 1 but i wasnt sure.......
Socket 370 is better, but if all you could get with the right specs is slot1 it would be OK
-
This is your MB specs.
And it shows you could go to a 1000Mhz PIII CPU, but it has to have the 100Mhz FSB to be compatable
Features/Specifications:
-
those are 800Mhz. and I believe the EB stands for 133Mhz FSB and your MB is 100Mhz.
This is the one you would need for your MB.......
C1110
Pentium III 800EMHz FC-PGA 100MHz FSB 256K Socket 370 OEM Processor
Warranty 30 Days Standard Warranty
60 Days Extended Warranty (Add $5.00)
90 Days Extended Warranty (Add $10.00)
$51.00
-
Hell yeah, go with it man. those are good processors and 50Mhz. won't make any diff, but being a PIII will.
I checked your link though, and I didn't see any 850 PIII's , it went from 800 to 866 maybe I overlooked it.
-
I would go for the PIII if you can find one.

I don't know what the deal was with halobox, but it was never locked....

-
hey man
that is over the cap that is very good
you should be happy
whats ur upload like?
I think he's saying he's bummed out that the wireless is only going half speed and he has to run wired to get the full 6Mbps....
-
Well they are actually capping at 8800 on the download, and I have just about touched that, as far as people getting higher than that I'm not sure, just like pitbull is constantly above 9000 and he ain't complaining.....LOL , so it might be some regions are capping above the 8800.
All I can say is keep on keepin on.

Seems like I remember this same debate when IE 4.0 came out vs Nutscrape, We all know who won that, and mozilla is taking another shot at it with FF.
Also 100,000,000 Downloads ? What does that actually mean ? I have downloaded FF at least 5 times myself everytime they come out with a new version to replace the last defect they put out.
Plus having to download a plugin for just about every website you visit, and then that plugin has a problem and then what a hassle to fix it, what's up with that? I never had to do that with IE
I.E.6 has been out for what ? 4 years now and was at least worth being patched and enhanced, and MS is right on the ball when it comes to any fixes.
IMO most people that use FF on a regular basis are just in a revolt stage just like a lot of teenagers go through with their parents, so do FF users against MS, but sooner or later they will come around and realize the best path, and though it will be hard to admit to, they will eventually return to the best browser, and it just keeps getting better.
Remember, JMO so don't get mad, get glad , get I.E.
Also I don't want to end this post on such a biased opinion and did want to note that FF does have one built in feature that works great, it's called UNINSTALL !....

Check to see if you have any VPN software installed or VPN enabled somewhere, or if you used to have DSL make sure you completely uninstall that software.
Also look down through your Add/Remove programs and see if there is anything you don't use anymore that may modify your settings, and uninstall
Then use DrTcp and set MTU to 1500 Save/Exit/Restart PC.
Good luck man , hope that works.

Gentlemen,
Shall I lock the thread or would you like to discuss this in a mature manner?

I voted "might need it someday", but it's good hardware modem and I don't want to sell it for 5 or 10 bucks either, so it's a keeper.
