ukphil Posted December 27, 2005 CID Share Posted December 27, 2005 Hi hope some one can help explain this to a noobie 1. I have had realy slow down load speeds on my P2P software which has led me to test the speed of my connection. I have ran several tests from this web site and typical get the following results. Web site test :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 62 Kbps about 0.1 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 8 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Tue Dec 27 20:27:16 UTC 2005 Bottom Line:: 1X faster than 56K 1MB download in 128 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 4.98 % of your hosts average (plus.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-PT8IXC0G4 Basicly this say's my down load rate is crap !!!. When I tested the speed of the connection with my ISP and the BT web test page i get these results XXXXXXXX and you have downloaded a 1.7Mb file at a speed of 1933 kilo bits per second (Kbps), your service bandwidth will have been quoted to you in kilo bits per second. Your IP address is XXXXXXXX, your browser is reported as being Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 and is running on Windows XP. BT would regard the speed ranges shown below as normal service: For 250kbps End Users speeds between 50 - 250kbps. For 500kbps End Users speeds between 100 - 500kbps. For 1000kbps End Users speeds between 200 - 1000kbps. For 2000kbps End Users speeds between 400 - 2000kbps. ******** which looks realy good since i have upto 2Meg connection. So what's the truth ? VanBuren Posted December 27, 2005 CID Share Posted December 27, 2005 hey ukphil and welcome to the forum speed change depend how far away from server you are, you cant get 2 Mbps all over the world traffic and distance will slow you down, testmy.net main server is located in Texas USA, so packets has to go overseas. but i think you should be able to go faster then that, around 1.5 Mbps would be more realistic read the stickys in make it faster section also make a traceroute to this site start-run-cmd tracert testmy.net when done rightclick choose all and hit enter paste all in a new post VanBuren
