fireyone01 Posted February 9, 2006 CID Share Posted February 9, 2006 Lately my internet has been downloading at approx 50kbs (and that's on a good day). I have a 4MB connection and when I called up my ISP they couldn't see a problem and recommended this site. However, when i do the test, it says my connection is 1.5mb. I've scanned my computers for any virus', trojans & spyware and all have came back negative. I can't seem to find why it is being so slow. Any help is appreciated, THANKS in advance!! trogers Posted February 12, 2006 CID Share Posted February 12, 2006 Hi, Your tracert seems to be better now. As to your comp setting, your RWIN setting of 256960 is a step too high for a 4 Mbps throughput. Try this ccs file and then carry out your speed tests and post. I used another site to test my connection and that came back with a higher rate. I'm just telling myself that it is the places that I download from that have the problem lol
ccr1958 Posted February 12, 2006 CID Share Posted February 12, 2006 has it gotten colder there lately...this may seem odd but yesterday afternoon it appeared my cable had gone completely out...i called charter & they said my line was good but i wasn't putting out enough power or something like that & was going to send a tech out on 2-15....i thought well heck that is too long to wait...so i went outside to the grounding block & removed the cables then put them back on & tightened slightly with a wrench....came back in recycled the modem & it started working normally....i live in texas & winters are somewhat mild..but it had gotten into the 20'sF the last couple nights so i don't know if the copper shrinks or what when it gets cold but anyway this worked

trogers Posted February 12, 2006 CID Share Posted February 12, 2006 fireyone01, You need to download the Cablenut Adjuster from www.cablenut.com and use it to open any ccs files in this forum. It is a program that tweaks your windows registry. After opening the ccs file, click 'Save to Registry', exit and reboot comp to take effect.
