raptors892004 Posted February 13, 2006 CID Share Posted February 13, 2006 Test with antivirus and spyware removers first if you are not sure your system is clean of viruses/spyware. Best spyware removers are Ad-aware Personal Edition, Spybot Search and Destroy and a pretty effective free PC Antivirus program is AVG Free Edition. Post results back here and we'll try and help P.S.: Also scan with Hijackthis after you finished with the spyware and virus scanners and post the save (log) file back here

raptors892004 Posted February 13, 2006 CID Share Posted February 13, 2006 Well Windows Updates and BitTorrent specifically since BitTorrent is scheduled to be run at computer startup could slow down your connection but since the slow speed is constant it is probably the connection. It could be a connection problem (e.g.: bad splitter, cable, etc) or just untweaked connection. Try TCP Optimizer first and then if that does nothing post back and we'll try to help with CableNut and installing settings for it typical to your connection type

trogers Posted February 13, 2006 CID Share Posted February 13, 2006 What are your subscribed speeds? You have excessive packet losses. Do a reverse traceroute back to your own IP address from this link: htto://www.dnsstuff.com/ I believe the pings would travel through 40 hops and still not reach you. This means a cable connection point may have been loosen. Possibly the copper wire shrank too much in the cold and contact x-sectional area reduced. Check and see if it is the cable box just outside your house.
Bender Posted February 13, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 13, 2006 traveled through 40 hops, didnt get to me. it is a DSL connection, not cable and I live in an apartment so I have no idea where the box would be.
trogers Posted February 13, 2006 CID Share Posted February 13, 2006 I suggest you notify your ISP and get them to do a line test to your IP Address. If confirmed that there is a loose connection, they will send a tech to physically check the lines and connections.
Bender Posted February 13, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 13, 2006 will do, we have had techs out here with no avail but we will see what they find again
