calumetbud Posted February 15, 2006 CID Share Posted February 15, 2006 I was having trouble with my upload speed: I was getting less than have my advertised speed. I found that when I turned off the worm protection in my Nortons anti virus, it give me back full advertised speed! I went from 95 kbps to over 250. trogers Posted February 15, 2006 CID Share Posted February 15, 2006 You may be having a similar problem as this guy in another forum. His complain is that his upload is faster than his download. But I suspect the cause is common in both yours and his: http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?t=194617

trogers Posted February 16, 2006 CID Share Posted February 16, 2006 Have you carry out scanning and deletion of tracking cookies, spywares and viruses yet? If you already done this, please post your "netstat -b" results to our other forum http://www.testmy.net/forum/b-2 so that our members who are knowledgeable about comp security can assist you. calumetbud Posted February 16, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 16, 2006 how do you run the nestate -b test
trogers Posted February 16, 2006 CID Share Posted February 16, 2006 Click 'Start', 'Run' and in pop up, type "cmd" and click 'ok'. In DOS black screen and after C:, type "netstat -a -b" and press 'enter'. Post the results.
FallowEarth Posted February 16, 2006 CID Share Posted February 16, 2006 Since you may have an infection, it may be helpful to run a scan from another source. Try this online scan: www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan But if you are clean, its most likely that the Norton's protection is just slowing you down. This happens because every piece of data that goes out from your PC has to pass through Norton's net, which takes time and thus slows you down. IMO you don't need that running, as long as you scan manually and be careful as to what emails you open and respond to.
