cuubja Posted February 18, 2006 CID Share Posted February 18, 2006 I've tested my download speed on testmy.net and here are the results: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 6087 Kbps about 6.1 Mbps (tested with 5983 kB) Download Speed is:: 743 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (server1) Test Time:: Sat Feb 18 2006 11:47:42 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) Bottom Line:: 109X faster than 56K 1MB download in 1.38 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 27.53 % faster than the average for host (Comcast.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-NZG73EULY However, when i try to download something off of another site, let's say, download.com, I only get speeds around 50 kB/s. Is there anyway to correct this?
trogers Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 Perhaps the server in www.download.com was busy at that time and could only supply you a bandwidth of 400 Kbps. FallowEarth Posted February 20, 2006 CID Share Posted February 20, 2006 Not as much with download.com, but many sites provide mirrors from which you can download the same software. This allows you to find a server which may be geographically closer to you, or experiencing lighter traffic. Otherwise, download.com is a generally busy site. What you get there, you can 99% of the time get elsewhere on the Internet. Just search google.com for a smaller site that is likely to have less traffic.
