brock01 Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 when you transfer files within your network, how fast does it go, whats it based on and if you go from ethernet to ethernet is it faster than wireless when transfering Thanks in advance. might sound stupid but im just wondering. richcornucopia Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 Ethernet will be much faster than wireless. Ethernet will be 100mbps (not likely that you have gigabit) and wireless will be 54mbps, some have a turbo mode of 108 but wired will generally be faster and more efficent. So under ideal conditions with 100 ethernet you could transfer 12.2 megs a second.
Bird Fan Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 Depends on what I'm doing. If it's a constant download then it will go down to like 11mbps, but if it's of and on browsing (like right now), then it's around 24mbps. BTW, I'm on wireless. Blunted 2 Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 i get around this speed average but if i tweak it for lan and use my faster comps i can get way faster but this seems to be the best for lan and internet. for some reason i cant get lan super fast without messing up the internet speed but this is fast enough for now. Blunted 2 Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 ^^^you dont always need a crossover cable because i do not use 1 to connect my gigabit cards.
FGOKURULES Posted February 20, 2006 CID Share Posted February 20, 2006 Your gigabit cards may have a crossover feauture built into them, but most 10/100mb nic's don't have that capability. Most computers don't have 1000mb nic's.
