hi there BT

i assume u have broadband with british telecom i dont know

there is two ways to make a network

you connect all the PC to a router or a switch

or you can connect one pc directly into another via one cable

attention the cable to connect TWO pc together is different then the cable to connect to the router or switch

do u want to know more about this ?

basically what they say in this site

http://www.incentre.net/incentre/frame/ethernet.html

from the pc to the hub you use this one

T-568A Straight-Through Ethernet Cable

T-568B Straight-Through Ethernet Cable

ethcable568a.gif

to connect two pc with no equipment in between u need a cross over

this one

ethcablerj45cr.gif

and in this picture u can see the difference in the cables

ethcable03.gif

is this enough information

or u still confused what to get ?
