jackyandjoe Posted March 2, 2006 CID Share Posted March 2, 2006 :icon_pale:Is there a software that I can use to get into this specific type of cable modem (Motorola Surfboard SB5100). My problem is that my public IP shown here is different than the IP on my pc. My problem is that i recently purchased a Linsys MRT54G and I can not do Port Forward for online games and filesharing etc. and even without the router the ports are blocked. I suspect that my cablemodem is on of those with router built in features and that my ISP (onelinkpr) is using it to block all these ports. thank you all for your help.. Swimmer Posted March 2, 2006 CID Share Posted March 2, 2006 if your ISP is blocking the port then you are sol.. There is nothing that the cable modem would do to beable to remove the block.. i am pretty sure that that is done at the node level.
jackyandjoe Posted March 3, 2006 Author CID Share Posted March 3, 2006 I know they blocking some, however, i would still like to know how to view my cable modem setting to see if this one has a router feature build into it.. cause i am having problems when using my router with it... thanks... jackyandjoe Posted March 3, 2006 Author CID Share Posted March 3, 2006 thanks elite however it has 1000 features where would i look to see if is blocking ports?? that is, if this modem is capable of it, or maybe turning off DHCP so i can set static ip... rajmarie Posted March 3, 2006 CID Share Posted March 3, 2006 turning off the DHCP will not let to set static IP. The SB5100 dont have any port blocking. The DHCP in the modem is to provide IP addresses if you connect your modem to a hub. if your port is blocked....then probably its your ISP who had it blocked. FallowEarth Posted March 3, 2006 CID Share Posted March 3, 2006 As rajmarie stated, SB5100 does not block ports and cannot mask the IP. It is not a NAT. If your IP from IPCONFIG does not match what is shown at http://whatismyip.com (when you are connected directly to the modem) then it is likely that there is software changing your IP, or a proxy. As for ports being blocked, what ports specifically are you needing?
jackyandjoe Posted March 3, 2006 Author CID Share Posted March 3, 2006 well, all of them are either blocked or closed when i run the tests from various port sniffer sites like whatismyip.com site... and i am not behind a firewall when i test.
