Lately it seems like my dsl is getting slower by the day..ive been reading up on this site and others about tweaking my settings to make my dsl faster..so far ive been using Cablenut,TCP Optimizer & CCleaner to try to speed things up a bit..ive also used VanBurens Cablenut settings 7 which boosted my download speed up a lil.Recently my computer caught a few viruses which i couldnt remove so i had to start from scratch again.After reinstalling all my software i decided to check my speeds and ended up with a Download speed of 135 KB/s .After tweaking a few things i managed to reach 200 KB/s.now before any of this happend this is where i stood: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 4248 Kbps about 4.2 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 518 kB/s Tested From:: <https://testmy.net> (main) Test Time:: Wed Mar 1 21:20:03 PST 2006 Bottom Line:: 76X faster than 56K 1MB download in 1.98 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 129.25 % faster than the average for host (pacbell.net) Validation Link:: <https://testmy.net/stats/id-XBZMIA95D> This Is Where Im At Now: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 1635 Kbps about 1.6 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 200 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (main) Test Time:: 2006/03/14 - 7:13pm Bottom Line:: 29X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 5.12 sec Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 14.99 seconds to complete Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; yie6_SBC) Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 85.6 % of your hosts average (pacbell.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-YZQCXOTL3 Can Anybody help me to get back to the point where i was? FallowEarth Posted March 15, 2006 CID Share Posted March 15, 2006 First thing, make sure you get all the Windows updates available to you. Also update your browser and your network adapter drivers. Second, minimize your startup items (msconfig...i think that works in 98, been so long ). The fewer, the better. Thirdly, use only one registry tweaking program: we are more accustomed to Cablenut here, so we may be able to assist you better with that program.
