ok umm well i have windows XP i had windows 98 before and i dont have SP2

i used the cablenut thing and i used the Cable&DSL 5000 or sumthin and now wen i download it starts at 120KB/s thats amazing normally i start at 50 and go down to 17kb/s but here i start at 120kb/s and go down all the way to 18kb/s and that speed goes down or up and i have Rogers Internet i think the download speed they supposed to give is like 250kb/s and wen i tested my dl speed its only 4.57% of wat the rogers avg speed is :/ and here the other test

TCP options string = 020405b40103030101010402

MTU = 1500

MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460

Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 128480

RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 1 bits (scale factor of 2)

Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 64240

RWIN is a multiple of MSS

Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)

256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)

128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2) <-- current value

64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your TCP Window limits you to: 5139.2 kbps (642.4 KBytes/s) @ 200ms

Your TCP Window limits you to: 2055.68 kbps (256.96 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 122 hops

TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

Please Help

You need to get SP2 installed on your box.  There are substantial security fixes that only SP2 will give you and running with anything less is just screaming for trouble.

What is your advertised speed? Is that not the T-1? Are you on the 128 pkg., if so you are doing great.

Enjoy all the convenience of cable Internet. Up to twice the speed of dial-up. (128 Kbps download and 64 Kbps upload

Also test with a bigger file, say 1496.

Welcome to the forum GoldenDrago. :wave:

2 things: you have to read and try the post info. Van Buren gave you a cable-nut file to use. Second I gave you a recomendation try a larger file test.

And third did you clean out your cookies and files before testing.

And fourth you have to let the cable-nut set for a couple of days to fully let it set in. Don't be so impatient. It is only frustrating only if you let it be that way. OK so I cannot count. :D

Also when was the last time you defragged your computer files.

OK GoldenDrago, it is not all that hard to do, and if you do regularly, it does not take that long. It only takes a long time, because you wait so long to do it. Mine only takes me about 1 minute, because I do it regularly, about twice a week. If you do not remember how to do it: click start>all programs>accessories>system tools>disk defragmenter>defragment>and let it run. While it is running, walk away and go get something to drink restroom break, or something to eat or drink. When you get back it should be done. Then run disk cleanup. Did forgot to clean out files including offline content, before testing?  All this should help some. Cool. :D

After you apply the tweak, make sure to disable any software that could be interfering with your test results.  This includes firewalls, real-time antivirus protection, popup blockers, browser extensions/toolbars, etc.  Also, be sure that you are malware-free: www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan
