martylemoo Posted January 1, 2005 Author CID Share Posted January 1, 2005 Hi Guys, thanks for the advice, I know how slow it is i have to live with it especially wheni am paying the equivilent of $60pm for this service. I have spoken to a couple of other people on the same service today and it seems they suffer the same problems. Some days i get no service at all!!! i am beginning to wonder why i changed from dial-up. I think some serious sorting out needs to be done at my isp end as they are not offering anything near what they promise. The thing is when i first got this i was getting bang on 2mb, so they have managed to change something!!! I will keep you all posted as to what they say and see if i can sort this out. cheers Martyn
martylemoo Posted January 5, 2005 Author CID Share Posted January 5, 2005 an update...... i got hold of my WISP today, they have given me a new bridge as they have experienced problems with the one i was using. Apparently i should only be getting 1mb max even though they advertise 2mb. Their router is set to only give out upto 1mb max to each client with a 1mb bank for when the system is maxxed out. They also said it might be worth playing with the fragmentation and RTS threshold. They are currently set at 2346 and 2432, what would changing these do? and any recommendations on what to change them too? thanks Martyn
