mmpcsnet Posted April 27, 2006 CID Share Posted April 27, 2006 a client is using dell laptop with windows xp; has built in wireless connection; she is able to send packets but not receive them. What does this mean? She has a cable modem connection (motorola surfboard with linksys wireless router). Any suggestions?
richcornucopia Posted April 27, 2006 CID Share Posted April 27, 2006 Has it worked correctly before? Did she restart? Has anything changed with her computer or network setup recently? Is the computer spyware and virus free? A little more info will help.
php Posted April 27, 2006 CID Share Posted April 27, 2006 most likely the computer is broadcasting packets in search of a network and isn't getting any response
Swimmer Posted April 27, 2006 CID Share Posted April 27, 2006 Check the ip address... do the stats look like 15 sent 4 recieved? If so you might want to check the key for the encryption... some times you can get on the network with an invalid key.. but you will not receive an IP address. Making it look like you have a connection.. but you really dont. If the is address is 169.xxx.xxx.xxx then my guess is that is your problem.
