amish Posted May 24, 2006 CID Share Posted May 24, 2006 I'm on a dual P4 3.4Ghz computer and 1gb of ram, nice connection as well Last Result: Download Speed: 4243 kbps (530.4 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 5032 kbps (629 KB/sec transfer rate) dual T1, not bad for high school
gotmilk Posted May 24, 2006 CID Share Posted May 24, 2006 Dual T-1? Dual T-1 would be 3 Mbps with nobody else on the network. Your school has more than a dual T-1.
Guest PeePs Posted May 24, 2006 CID Share Posted May 24, 2006 I'm home from college (Univ. of Nebraska-Lincoln), but when I was there I tested and got like 800 KB down and like 600 KB up. Couldn't really do anything with the upload though because each dorm room got an allowed 500 MB of upload per a day and once you went over that 500 MB upload in one day you were thrown onto another connection with like 5 mb down and probably like 1.5 mb up until the next day. So basically if you went over the limit you were in for some slow *** speeds! In the school newspaper there was an article about how the school is sappose to upgrade their internet from 155 mbps to 300 mbps (might be the wrong number). They also mentioned something about how the school might use "Internet2" which i guess is a dedicated line just for education that goes to Kansas City. The Internet2 would allow for speeds 100 times greater than the school already has. So maybe if they get a lot more speed they will get rid of that *** *** 500 MB a day upload crap!!! amish Posted May 25, 2006 CID Share Posted May 25, 2006 Dual T-1? Dual T-1 would be 3 Mbps with nobody else on the network. Your school has more than a dual T-1. yeah, that's what I said too. But the tech guys said we have dual T-1 lines, but max can only get 1.5mbps each. Maybe they have 4 lines. But also it's usually much slower, seeing as each person has a computer connected on wireless, playing lan games and what not
