resopalrabotnick Posted May 8, 2006 CID Share Posted May 8, 2006 hm. got a dud panasonic dvd player here. opens tray, takes dvd, starts reading it, turns off. i opened 'er up and saw that everything moves like i guess it should, moving the laser and drive into position. when the laser detects the disc it tries to start spinning it. that's hwen it dies. sometimes the disc moves a few revs, sometimes nothing happens. any ideas? richcornucopia Posted May 8, 2006 CID Share Posted May 8, 2006 I assume you've tried multiple dvd's?
dlewis23 Posted May 8, 2006 CID Share Posted May 8, 2006 if you have tried many different DVDs and it still does it, then i would say that a lever has been damaged, and is unable to pick the DVD up enough, or unable to hold it up.
resopalrabotnick Posted May 8, 2006 Author CID Share Posted May 8, 2006 yeah, tried multiple discs. when i had it open and powered it up it seemed to pick the dvd up fine, you could spin it by hand just fine (it wasn't dragging on anything). just when it tried to spin it itself it died. to me it looks like the motor is dead, am just hoping someone has a better tip than tossing it.
