Drakrum Posted May 10, 2006 CID Share Posted May 10, 2006 I've been tweaking around and what have you. I've finished fine tuning my machine and turned my attention to my cable. Here is my current network setup and service. Tell me what you guys think and any suggestions you may have. ( I have found that if I turn my TV off, its cable too, and disconnect the coax from the splitter that my tests results with this configuration is consistent with 8 - 8.2 Mbps or 990kb to 1000KB/s. ) Marvel Yukon Gigabit Network Controller -Tweaked and Optimized with TCPIP Optimizer Linksys WRT54Gv5 -DMZ Enabled -Mac Cloned -Mac Filtered -Static set -Firewall and Built in Security disabled Comcast Cable (8.0 Mbps) Modem DPX2100 :::.. Drakrum Posted May 10, 2006 Author CID Share Posted May 10, 2006 Those are pics of my rig setup. Basically that was a deskshot and just various items on or around my comp. That comp backshot is what cost the most.. The Nvidia 7800GTX SLi's. The top on is what I run video off of and the other is set on load balancing so when the first one gets maxed, the second one will take the load off and double my potential. I also have those bad boys overclocked. Stock is 490 Core and 1.3GHz Mem [EDIT] The image is cut off but its OC'ed to 499/1.
Drakrum Posted May 10, 2006 Author CID Share Posted May 10, 2006 But thanks for complimenting me. I'm really not that much of a bragger but I could have made a heft down payment on a new car and decided that I would invest. As far as my Cable goes, do you guys have any suggestions or tips? I'm an ex-Dell Wireless Certified tech, including hardwired and I focused on DSL. I like DSL because of the ping times. I would appreciate any ideas or small tweaks. The little things add up.
