I have the Westell 6100 DSL modem, and the connection is terrible. It constantly cuts out, not working at all and giving me black pages in Internet Explorer. I have called verizon several times, and when I finally get an actual person on the phone.......I still end up not getting results in the long run. I am guessing that the problem may be in my computer...... I use Limewire for sharing, and it says that I have a firewall up, but I have no idea where it is, or how to shut it down. Could it be that? Well, anyhoo.... I posted my test results, and I may as well have dial-up. Can someone please help!?!?
MttFrog13 Posted June 20, 2006 CID Share Posted June 20, 2006 Has your connection always been like this or is ot only recent? Here are some things u can try to help. ~make sure ur telephone wire to ur modem is less than 10ft. ~try a different ethernet cord ~try resetting ur modem, or turning it off for 1min. and turning it back on. HERE is directions to open a port for limewire, i did it for bearshare, but i couldnt really notice any performance increase.... dolphinjr Posted July 27, 2006 CID Share Posted July 27, 2006 I work for Verizon DSL tech support and I must say the Westell 6100 is awful. I would recomend upgrading to the VZ 2 modem, router cordless phone all in one.
