WatchMeNow Posted August 10, 2006 CID Share Posted August 10, 2006 i recently got hooked up with a 3mb down, about 384k up. When i test it i get 6meg down and 384up but the thing is, when i go to download im only downloading at like 100kbps. It should be about 300 or more. I dont know what the problem is. could somebody help me fix it.

It could be the router, but its most likely your computer, or something interfering with the wireless connection. what kinda wireless card do you have on your computer, and do you know approximately how far you are from the router. WatchMeNow Posted August 10, 2006 Author CID Share Posted August 10, 2006 what? my computer. ya i could, id have to do it in a couple of days tho. my ping on games like bf2 stays at 29-30 and usually only gets as high as 50 and it loads webpages super fast. its just the dl speeds that are dissapointing. but when i test it on testmy.net chicago mirror it says i dl at like 320ish kbps. does anybody have a clean file i can monitor when dl-ding and doesn't have all of the bandwidth taken up by other people
WatchMeNow Posted August 11, 2006 Author CID Share Posted August 11, 2006 could it be a settings that is within my computer that is limiting me to a certain speed the best constant dl rate i have had is at about 125 kbps and it usually starts off at 300 or so and thats what it should be. the guy said i have a 16+connection so he said its good. WatchMeNow Posted August 11, 2006 Author CID Share Posted August 11, 2006 no, i connected my dads computer directly to the modem(sorry i worded the last post wrong) and it still was fading out. Just about a half an hour ago i was testing it out again and I started to dl a file and got it to go up to 324ish steady for about a good minute and then it went down to 280ish and stayed there. I think it is just an isp problem. i think ill wait it out and see what goes on in the future and maybe post back if i have further problems. thx alot WatchMeNow
