Confused with test results from different sites

Hi, I sighned up for optimum boost yesterday but Iam unable to enjoy it until I know its working right. On the average I get a speed test result of 26-27 mbps from optonline.net

Then I test here and I never get above 10mbps from the largest dl test available. I also tried another site and I get a 15 mbps results on the average there. Why is optimum online's results always way higher? Is is because the test is java based? And why cant I get a decent speed results here? Any help I would apreciate because I cant figure this out. Also here are my results from this site.

i have boost and i get from 20 mb to 30 mb to here depending on how congested it is but you get faster to optimum online cause your testing on there network which you happen to be a part of and anything off there network you might get lower results  do you use any tweak programs like cablenut to make your speed faster?  what anti-virus and firewall are you using?

Those tweaks brought the speed up to 17mbps, I did two tests and it wont go above 17mbps now. Thats better but still not the right speed. I also used a program called Drtcp and tweaked my settings with that yesterday, should I undo the changes from that program? Thansk again

they all change the same thing, so what ever that program did was just over wrote by cablenut for the most part.

Ok I rebooted and disabled my firewall for the tests. Now when I do the optonline test I get only 20 mbps when before I got 25-26mbps before the tweaks. I try to test on this site and it goes through the first two dls no problem, then when the files start to get bigger the download just hangs at like 70% and throws my whole reading off. Why does this happen? Please Help

Actually I have read several times to only run one tweak at a time. You might ask Fallow Earth about that. (Or maybe Van Buren.) As I think FE is the one I heard it from.

Just a suggestion, I would have backed up my files when I started, and deleted or something like that.

I only use TCP Optimizer so I am not sure.

Some sort of conflict.  ;)

I tried that link and the test starts out fast and then suddenly hangs on about 23%. The bottom of the webpage says waiting and I dont know why. I dont have a firewall running. Im running Win XP media, I have 2 gigs of ram and a 2.8 dual core processor. What am I doing wrong here?

ok try this test and click on statistics when the test is done and post it back here.  this shows packetloss and when i have packetloss to this site my speeds are slow but when i have no packetloss there it is high so it seems accurate for me.  also dont worry about the programs nothing can get messed up from this and might take a bit of messing around to get the speeds you want but remember your not going to hit full speed to everywhere.

here is my stats
