test results not what i'd like them to be..any help?

I do a lot of online gaming, mainly BF2 and Call of Duty 2, my ping levels can sometimes be outrageous. Any help on tweaking my connection speed? I have already ran cable nut and used one of the pre-set registry settings. Thanks
