cardude19571 Posted August 22, 2006 CID Share Posted August 22, 2006 I'm on optonline in Brooklyn, NY right now and I just unplug the modem for 10-15 secs and I get a new IP. If you have a router plugged into the modem, unplug the router first, then unplug the modem, then plug the modem back in, then plug the router in. That's what I did. bosanac Posted August 22, 2006 Author CID Share Posted August 22, 2006 i think its a static ip not dynamic so it dont change..
Blunted 2 Posted August 22, 2006 CID Share Posted August 22, 2006 no optimum doesnt offer static ip's unless its on lightpath so if you can change your mac address on your router that would do it or if you have another network card you can just use that and it will get a new ip. bosanac Posted August 23, 2006 Author CID Share Posted August 23, 2006 ok so how do i change mac adress?
ekleiner Posted August 23, 2006 CID Share Posted August 23, 2006 Change your network card if your cable modem is directly connected that way or change the mac address in your router if you have one.

dlewis23 Posted August 23, 2006 CID Share Posted August 23, 2006 i have router but how do i change the mac addres what kind of router do you have, on most there is a page for it in the routers control panel.
ekleiner Posted August 23, 2006 CID Share Posted August 23, 2006 It will likely be somewhere in the configuration of the router. It may call it Spoofing. Look at the manual for the router of on the manufactures website Why exactly do you need a new IP address?

Nos7667 Posted August 23, 2006 CID Share Posted August 23, 2006 You could change your mac, But then your ISP wouldnt be able to run diagnostics on your modem if you called support.
