RAINMAKA Posted August 24, 2006 CID Share Posted August 24, 2006 my neighbor has a compaq presario 2100 laptop and when you turn it on you get a error reading: Smart failure predicted on hard disk 0 : toshiba mk4021GAS- (PM) Warning immediately back up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent. I am assuming that the hard drive is terribly broken and that replacing it will be needed. My question is can I just order this Hard Drive and put it in then use the restore discs?
disturbed Posted August 24, 2006 CID Share Posted August 24, 2006 any hard drive of the same kind(interface) would do - brand/size/speed doesnt matter really
Swimmer Posted August 25, 2006 CID Share Posted August 25, 2006 that would work.. i perfer the hitachi laptop drives.. for some reason they seem to last a little bit longer.. the other thing that you might want to do is download a copy of this: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ and run the drive diagonistics..
