tommie gorman Posted October 26, 2006 CID Share Posted October 26, 2006 So that is where the satelite troubled folks go. 5 pages for the last 30 days. I have to wonder why so many have so much trouble. That one guy thinks his is fast with an "1172 Kbps about 1.2 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)" and the "New Firefox 2.0 and Speedtweaks - Speed Explodes " @ 6:14am. That is not that fast for a 6000. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,17145558 I think a clean and light comp is the best for speed on satelite. I pull an easy 1500+ at that time of day. Heck I just pulled a 1226 Kbps (tested with 2992 kB) @ 8:05pm. ^^^ Maybe I am just lucky. *crosses fingers*

ghostmaster Posted November 2, 2006 CID Share Posted November 2, 2006 <lumberg>Yeah I'm going to go ahead and ask you not to post those kind of speeds to us Hughes folks again. Yeah. And if you could just go ahead and post that somewhere else, that would be great. THANKS </lumberg> JK Congrats on the cable.....

tommie gorman Posted November 2, 2006 CID Share Posted November 2, 2006 That is OK, you go ahead and enjoy it. I now understand your frustration with the cutback on the speeds. You are used to much more.
816_1443013898 Posted November 2, 2006 Author CID Share Posted November 2, 2006 That is OK, you go ahead and enjoy it. I now understand your frustration with the cutback on the speeds. You are used to much more. As you know i was getting 2 meg. But like all good things I suppose ....they all come to a end sooner or later. If I didnt have the 2 meg download speeds i'd be none the wiser. I'm more pissed @ the upgrade fees here,! I can live with 1 meg ......no problem. My system has been rock solid....with the exception of the normal Mail outages that we all come to expect once in a while. But to fork over another 400 bucks,, nah! Ciao..Gex
tommie gorman Posted November 2, 2006 CID Share Posted November 2, 2006 That ain't no crap! I could see if they were needed upgrades, but they are not. THese old systems are capable of much higher speeds. And it seems like Dway is stuck in dial up phase. Dial up has not changed except for going from 28-56 kbps., after all these years. And $400 you are right. They need to rethink the issue of paying unreasonably to upgrade. They should at least give you the option of the $49 deal like the rest! fikester Posted November 2, 2006 CID Share Posted November 2, 2006 The problem is not what the sat systems are capable of......which is by far more than even the business accounts get, but rather how much Hughes can water it down for the highest profit. tommie gorman Posted November 2, 2006 CID Share Posted November 2, 2006 I guess all the griping won't change the fact that it is a choice most times. Them or dial-up. And I chose them for now,[til something better comes along]
