1. What OS are you running? Examples: Windows 98, Windows XP. If you have XP make sure you have SP2 installed! Also download the p2p fix for SP2 here

Answer:Im using Window XP

If you have a MAC try BroadbandOptimizer

2. Who your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is, and what the advertised speed for download/upload is.

Answer: Comcast, Not sure

3. What tweaking programs you already have installed, and run this test.  Copy all text and paste it in your post! For security reasons, blank out your IP #.

Answer:TCP Optimizer

TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402

MTU = 1500

MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460

Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960

RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits (scale factor of 4)

Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 64240

RWIN is a multiple of MSS

Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)

256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4) <-- current value

128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your TCP Window limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms

Your TCP Window limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 53 hops

TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00100000 (32)

Precedence (priority) = 001 (priority)

Delay = 0 (normal delay)

Throughput = 0 (normal throughput)

Reliability = 0 (normal reliability)

Cost = 0 (normal cost)

Check bit = 0 (correct, 8th checking bit must be zero)

DiffServ (RFC 2474) = CS1 001000 (8) - class 1 (RFC 2474). Similar forwarding behavior to the ToS Precedence field.

4. What speed do you have against https://testmy.net and http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ also download this Tracert and Ping program (made by php) and click on check.bat.  When it's done, copy and paste the results in your post.

5. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need.  You most likely only need "Client for Microsoft Networks" and "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)."  If you share files on your home network, you also need "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks."

Answer:done that...

6. Open Internet Explorer and select the Tools menu, go to Internet Options, Connections tab, click the

LAN settings button, make sure nothing there is checked.

7. Never Connect to your modem via USB ! Always connect to your modem via ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it depends on the ISP service unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL. If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware.

Answer:done that... my NIC is now set to.... and firmware is the latest avalible

8. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for at least 3 minutes

Answer:Done that but VanBurens site is down :(

The site seems to be working fine for me.

http://www.cablenut.com/

http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-1013

Also this has something to do with it. "Test Time:: 2006/10/10 - 6:22pm". Try much later or earlier.  ;)

And you might read here also before doing the others.

One more important thing, Welcome to the forum Dragonbreak  :wave:

Enjoy your stay.  :)

Sorry,  :oops: I use TCP Optimizer. Wish I could help.

*as he crawls under a bush to think*

The newest and largest number I assume.

"VanBurens_cablenut_settings_version_9.zip" Obviously for cable and XP, and I am not sure after that. I think that is it. No? Maybe speeds differ?

It is not opening up for me either, so I was just guessing. "404 - Attachment Not Found"

Hope you find it.  :D
