big big big big problem (HLP PLS)

ok, so i got this laptop to repair, and the boot files are corrupted, so i cant even boot it up. somehow, magically the "fdisk" doesnt work anymore so..how should i fix this computer?

it is windows xp...but i dont have the cd?

would a recovery cd from another computer work? (like my old compaq? it was also windows xp)

uh...it just says quick recovery on it.

if you stick it in and it goes into a regular windows blue screen setup then its a windows xp cd, if anything else its just a image CD.

do you think i should just install vista RC1 on this or no?

i wouldnt

is there any file you can download and burn on a cd that has a file recovery or something?

on the vista cd there's comand prompt but fixboot command doesnt work.

no you cant burn it to a cd, you need a regualy windows xp disk.

a vista cd wont do it becuase vista does not have a master boot record like windows xp so there is no need for fixboot.
