Hi all: If you try this tweak please back up your registry first.

This is a tweak for adding additional settings to the

maximum speed pull down in modem properties /general tab.

This is for windows 98 se.I have not tried it on other

systems so I don't know if it would work for them.

In the registry at HKLM/system/current control set/

services/class/modem/000. The 000 would be the modem

you are applying the tweak to.If you have more than 1

modem check to see if you need to do this for each one.

In the right pane at this registry key there is a binary

value named "Properties" left click it to bring it up.

In the binary values window in the fourth row from the

7th to the 10th digit you should find a value like "C2 01"

or "84 03"delete these.Put this setting back in the 4th row

7th to 10th digit "10 0E" without the quotes.This would also

be the 24th to the 27th byte to help you make sure these

are in the correct location.Close the registry. You should

restart your computer now. Then go to

the modem properties box pulldown & select the speed you need.

There are 3 locations of the modem properties box to check. The

setting in one does not reset them all.One is located in the

control panel.One is in system properties/device manager/modem/

properties/modem tab & one is in dial-up networking/the modem

conection you are setting/properties/configure/general tab.You should

restart your computer now.
