tommie gorman Posted December 10, 2006 CID Share Posted December 10, 2006 It sounds best to contact your ISP. Maybe you are not configured properly. That might be all it is. You know, the settings from them or something like that.
dlewis23 Posted December 10, 2006 CID Share Posted December 10, 2006 J_E_R_T you may be too far from the CO or have some interference on your line i would call your ISP and have them run a line test. also what modem do you have.
MJFSOL Posted December 30, 2006 CID Share Posted December 30, 2006 well i was having troubs too..... with my speeds....5.0M down 684 up... was getting 3.1 D and 680 U called isp and turns out after ALL the tweaking i did...i am about .23 miles too far from the DSLAM for 5Mbps having to downgrade to 3.... :tickedoff so those who have embarq and the sales reps are pushing you to upgrade.....be careful.... i thought i was well within the range.....but the service tech came over and measured it ...and gave me the bad news.... cest la vie
tommie gorman Posted December 30, 2006 CID Share Posted December 30, 2006 MJFSOL so your speeds won't really change then? And your price per month will drop? Isn't that good news? Maybe I missed the key here.
MJFSOL Posted January 2, 2007 CID Share Posted January 2, 2007 i was told when they were selling me the 5 service my speeds would be close to 5.....and for awhile they were....ranging from 4.1-4.6 but then they started to drop off....to what you can see if you look up my test history..... what pissed me off was they said i was within range of the DSLAM ...and would have no troubs....and i wasnt..... i didnt know where the DSLAM was until the service tech told me and i went there myself and measured it....and it was .23mi too far....and thats the reason the tech said for the drop off.....and i asked him why @ first my speeds were good and then dropped off....all he could say was the line quality may have gown down with time..... so i said F*** it and downgraded.......yes my speeds will now be close to what they are advertised to be......and the price will be the same...because i was paying 3M speed prices for the 5M .......so no price change..... hopefully this cleared it up...lol sometimes i tend to not make much sense when im pissed at the moment and just post bits and pieces.....sorry.. tommie gorman Posted January 2, 2007 CID Share Posted January 2, 2007 Thanks MJFSOL, that does make more sense. I get the same way at times. It's called being human.
