rjventre Posted January 13, 2007 CID Share Posted January 13, 2007 I recently learned of a Microsoft launch event in my area for Office 2007, and the Microsoft site says that if I register and attend I will receive a free copy of Office Professional 2007 at the event. So, my question is, does anyone know if this software is fully functional with a license to keep it for as long as I want, or is it just promotional software that will expire? If anyone has any info, please post. Thanks!

Swimmer Posted January 14, 2007 CID Share Posted January 14, 2007 Most of those release parties cost a ton of money to attend or are by invite only.. If you can go do it! It would be well worth it.
rjventre Posted January 14, 2007 Author CID Share Posted January 14, 2007 Thanks for the replies, DLewis and Swimmer. I registered to attend a couple of days ago and only about 15 minutes after I registered, registration closed. I guess these events must be popular. Even after I registered, I wasn't sure if I was going to go or not, but I guess I will attend. If anyone else has any info on these launch events or on the software that they give away, PLEASE POST! Thanks!
Spook63 Posted January 14, 2007 CID Share Posted January 14, 2007 Yes, they give you FULL function software, it's just in the form of a download, not a CD or DVD. They do this because the majority of people attending are IT Pro's, so if they give a copy away free, there's a good chance the Tech will recommend it to their employers. If you attend, you will be given a PIN and URL to get your software. I go to these on a regular basis, and I have gotten Office Premium 2000, Virtual PC, just to name a couple. I'm going to one on Feb 22nd. Here's the link: http://www.microsoft.com/business/launch2007/signup/default.mspx Make sure you read the notes at the bottom, to find out about the giveaways. ratchet Posted January 14, 2007 CID Share Posted January 14, 2007 They already warned me if I don't attend I'll lose Off7 2/1 or 3/1, depending on if I did the technical refresh or not. Want to go through the door twice for me? lol
