He still might be able to overclock one of his computer if he feel like spending some money. All I had to on my old HP 753n was change the motherboard. I use a Gigabyte GA-81G1000[Rev2.0] motherboard. Guest kamil234 Posted January 24, 2007 CID Share Posted January 24, 2007 Other than burning up your processor, is there anything else that can be damaged by over clocking? you can mess up your ram...and overload power supply if you're close to maxing it out...and screw up your mother board if you just change the referance clocks
haddikazook Posted January 24, 2007 CID Share Posted January 24, 2007 Ok, thanks, I was just wondering because I've got a Biostar motherboard with Warp speeder over clocking software that came with it. It's supposed to safely over clock it, but I wasn't sure how safe it actually was.

Now you are getting a new computer the right way. Built it yourself. Quad core/Dual Quad core Look like we got a new race going on here to see who got the meanest beast of a computer. Look like VanBuren new computer will be #1 when he get it built. Something tell me he won't hold the title for long.

gotmilk Posted January 24, 2007 Author CID Share Posted January 24, 2007 Ok, the current speed is the highest I can get it to overclock. I'm fine with 2.6 I tried upping the voltage but the highest it would let me go was 1.400v. My 3DMark06 score now: 4319
Buntz Posted January 25, 2007 CID Share Posted January 25, 2007 That the way it goes sometime. Some motherboard overclock better than other ones. My 3700+ got up to 2.8 on my ASUS motherboard, but when I put it in my Gigabyte motherboard I can only get it to go up to 2.5. Asus offers more overclocking option in the BIOS. If you really want to get into overclocking option then you want a DFI motherboard, from what a read they have the most overclocking option in the BIOS.
