Speed help needed please

Hi all

I've just stumbled across this site earlier this morning (while I was trying to figure out the conversion ration between Kbps and Mbps). After playing around for a while it seems that you guys are very, very skilled in getting the most out of broadband connections. I'm in the UK and am using a cable modem on NTL. The speed is 750k.

After running the tests, these are the results I'm getting:-

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 766 Kbps about 0.8 Mbps (tested with 2992 KB)

Download Speed is:: 94 KB/s

Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Bottom Line:: 14 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 10.89 second(s)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=SO9LG81MX

To be honest, most of the above makes absolutely NO SENSE to me whatsoever. But, I'm hoping that someone out there can interpret this and make my BB connection a bit faster.

If I've missed out anything here then I apologise in advance. As I said, I'm very new to this (and this is my first post!) so it's all a bit confusing.

Many thanks for any help you can give me.

Well, it's good to know that I'm pretty much running at maximum. I guess NTL in the UK ain't so bad after all!!

One thing though - I did, ehem, "muck about" with CableNut and amended the registry and now I'm getting:-

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 715 Kbps about 0.7 Mbps (tested with 2992 KB)

Download Speed is:: 87 KB/s

Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Bottom Line:: 13 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 11.77 second(s)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=AWFKXPQI4

I (stupidly) didn't back up the original files, so is there something I can do to get my 87KB/s back up into the 90's as p[er my first report?? It was stupid, I know, but when you're "tweaking" you sometimes get a little over zealous and thing like this happen (or is that just me??)

:)

BTW, thanks for the welcome. What a great forum!!

open cablenut adjuster, click delete cablenut tweaks + click save to registry

download the attached Cable & DSL 1000 128,zip and unzip it to C:ProgramCablenut

in top left corner, click file, click load custom settings file, browse to C:ProgramCablenut

dubbleclick on Cable & DSL 1000 128.ccs

click save to registry and reboot

also reboot your modem and router, leave it off for 30 sec

make a new tweaktest and speedtest

good luck

VanBuren :)
