C-Money17 Posted May 17, 2007 CID Share Posted May 17, 2007 Lately, my computer's percentage of usage always jumps up to 100% whenever I play video games on it via emulation. The thing is, it never used to do that before until just a couple days ago. Is there any way I can fix this problem? Also, when my CPU is at 100% for maybe five to seven minutes, the hard drive's internal fan kicks in. My friend told me that prolonged use of the hard drive (when the fan is running) can damage the drive. Is this true?
Swimmer Posted May 17, 2007 CID Share Posted May 17, 2007 I dont play my games vai emulation.. but my guess would be that you are a little low on memory. Internal fan on a hard drive? I have never heard of that... My guess is that you are discribing the sound of the drive when you begin to swap files from memory to the hard drive because you dont have enough physical memory on the system. dlewis23 Posted May 17, 2007 CID Share Posted May 17, 2007 What kid of processor do you have? and how much ram? Also why are you playing games in emulation? Or is it like a console video game that you are using an emulator to play? There is no internal hard drive fan, your probably hearing your CPU fan speed up.
