lorne Posted February 29, 2004 CID Share Posted February 29, 2004 I am having some issues with my ISP right now. I think the server keeps getting overloaded and has to reset. The connection has been really erratic. But I have no doubt once I get this straightened out that i will get some more speed from my premium membership

lorne Posted March 2, 2004 CID Share Posted March 2, 2004 DJVageli That is a pretty nice speed. I need to know what the advertised speed for your connection is before i know whether or not you will be able to get faster speeds. For ex. my advertised speed is 10 mb/down, 1 mb/up. reddog00 Posted March 3, 2004 CID Share Posted March 3, 2004 Well I just upgraded to my 6Mbps package about a month ago through SBC Yahoo DSL. I do not think any cable companies go that high. The only one I know of is Optimum Online which I believe is in the New York and surrounding areas. Optimum sets max speeds at 5Mbps which is darn fast! DJVageli Posted March 3, 2004 Author CID Share Posted March 3, 2004 Yea Optimum is at 5 mbps, but i didnt know home DSL can be that fast, i thought only cable can reach that speed for home customers. By the way is SBC only for your area?

reddog00 Posted March 3, 2004 CID Share Posted March 3, 2004 No it is all over. I would go to www.sbc.com and plop in my phone number and address if I were you to see if it is available. One thing you have to remember though if it says you qualify you may not necessarily qualify for the 6Mbps package (Expert Plus). You only might be able to go lets say 1.5Mbps because of your distance from the phone company's Central Office. Worth a try though but if I were getting consistent speeds like you it would be very hard to let that go. Do not mess with a good thing unless you have to
