ronss Posted December 3, 2007 CID Share Posted December 3, 2007 hi i have Cox cable, and just recently,,,my download speeds during the evning and later at night, am hours...come to a crawl....right now i have 982 Kbps download speed...and i should be getting 5mg/s.....during the day,,its around 5mg/s...i just don,t get it....what the heck does the night time have to do with my speeds???? so getting 5mg/s ,,, during the day tells me the equipment if functioning ok,,,, i have bought a new modem,,,motorola sb5101,,, and that was not the problem,,i have by-passed the splitter,,that is not the problem,,because it does nothing by doing this..have connected directly into the computer from the modem,,by-passing my router,,still not difference...it seems my hardware is ok,,,as i said,,5mg/s during the day hours, but bad during the evening....Cox came last week,,, said he upped the power outside, and then came in and checked my modem readings last week,,he said they were normal.....the problem with Cox is that they are not around during the night time when i have the problem....anyone have thought on this problem???? Cox is coming back out on dec 5, wed. what url address do i need to check the my modem readings.

ronss Posted December 3, 2007 Author CID Share Posted December 3, 2007 that may be,,,but i have never had this slow,,even at night...i have allways being humming around 5mg/s....all times of the day...last night it was down to 125Kbps...twice as fast as a 56k mode,, and it even disconnected...no online light,,it was blinking.....i would take 20 seconds to load a web page..... right now it takes 20 seonds to load this page after responding, my download speed is 325 kbps,,,i can just as well go with a 56k modem provider

coknuck Posted December 3, 2007 CID Share Posted December 3, 2007 Sweden you can get a 100/100 connection. Japan have some pretty fast stuff also. I can only get cable or dial up where I live. But for $30.00 a month I can't complain. If you want DSL thats up to you.

FallowEarth Posted December 4, 2007 CID Share Posted December 4, 2007 ronss - welcome! I'm seeing some packets timing out in the Cox network. Have you called Cox to see what is up with that? Can you also post a speedtest result that you are seeing from the speedtest on this site - do one during the slow hours versus the faster hours.
