There may be something wrong wiht the splitter. Do you have any tweaks installed?  ;)

Ok, I just bought a brand new gold plated splitter and to short lengths of cable with gold plated connectors.  Also, I just downloaded cablenut and it's running well.  I'm new to this and I was wondering if anyone can help me with some tweaks to increase my speed.

Here are the results of my most recent test:

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 3448 Kbps about 3.4 Mbps (tested with 2992 KB)

Download Speed is:: 421 KB/s

Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Test Time:: Sat Feb 05 2005 16:59:01 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time)

Bottom Line:: 62X faster than 56K 1MB download in 2.43 sec

yeah, that's pretty good. I've only gotten to 3.4 once. I can only get between 2.9 and 3.2.  ;)

seems you may have a 4000 down connetion? am I right?  :)

upload?

I'll post my upload in a minute.  What do you mean by a 4000 down connection?  I'm a total noob to this stuff.  My buddy built me this computer and I really don't know  what the complete specs are.

I just did this patch thing that is in the FAQ and it incresed my speed.  Will this hurt my computer and how can I restore the original setting?

Here is what I did:

1. What OS are you running, ex win 98, win xp, if you have XP make sure you have SP2 installed! Also download the p2p fix for SP2 here https://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497

read on the page i linked to

the windows SP2 default setting is 10, the program patch it to 50, and you can go even higher i use 100

quote from that download page "A patching program for removing or changing the limit imposed on connection attempts in SP2. The patcher has the ability to restore tcpip.sys back to the original... Still, you might want to back up tcpip.sys, use it at your own risk. The author of this patch can be reached @ http://www.lvllord.de/"
