mummer43 Posted February 6, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 6, 2005 read on the page i linked to the windows SP2 default setting is 10, the program patch it to 50, and you can go even higher i use 100 quote from that download page "A patching program for removing or changing the limit imposed on connection attempts in SP2. The patcher has the ability to restore tcpip.sys back to the original... Still, you might want to back up tcpip.sys, use it at your own risk. The author of this patch can be reached @ http://www.lvllord.de/" VanBuren How do you adjust the SP2 setting?

VanBuren Posted February 6, 2005 CID Share Posted February 6, 2005 you can change the number by clicking on EvID4226Patch.exe and when you see this " Do you really want to change the limit to 10? (Yes/No/Change)" click C now you see this "Please enter the number of concurrent half-open connections (10-16777214, ESC=Auto 10/50):" type 100 and click enter now you see this " If you continue, please press 'Abort' and 'Yes' on the popup from windows file protection. Because we change system files, Windows tries to restore the original one. So it's normal. Do you really want to change the limit to 100? (Yes/No/Change)" click Y now you see this " Creating work-copy ... done ... New limit set. Now calculating checksum ... Checksum is: 0x612C8 Patch complete ... Installing new file ... done ... All operations successfull. TCPIP.SYS got changed. It's recommend to reboot NOW! Press any key to exit ..." press a key and exit when asked for the SP2 cd click cancel and reboot your pc VanBuren

mummer43 Posted February 6, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 6, 2005 Yesterday, I got it working great, but this morning it isn't working again. The modem keeps resetting itself and I can't get a connection. I called the Comcast service line and they think it could be the splitter. Yesterday, I bought a brand new gold plated splitter and gold plated cables. Do you guys have any suggestions about what I can do? Right now I have the cable plugged directly into the modem and it's working fine. The service rep said something about having at least a 1000 mhz splitter. Does this make any sense? Swimmer Posted February 6, 2005 CID Share Posted February 6, 2005 it could not even be the splitter.. It might be the fact that the line needs a booster from Comcast.. I had a tech come out to my house and install a spliter for me after they told me that mine, radioshack brand, want good enough.. they also turned up my booster.. I'm going to run to Radio Shack now and see if I can get a better splitter. If that doesn't work, should I call Comcast and see about getting a boost? I just looked at the box and he gave me a VHF/UHF COMBINER. What dumbass!!!!! Now I have to go back to get the damn splitter. :angry5: So is there any way at all I can get the TV Card and the modem to work at the same time?? It turns out that the splitter I had was a 1 gig splitter. I called Comcast and they said it may be the signal and that they wil have to send someone out to check it. Of course they pulled the old "they will be there between 9 and 12 or 1 and 4" bull. I feel like I'm living a Seinfeld episode.
