Kumar_Shah Posted March 17, 2009 CID Share Posted March 17, 2009 Here is a huge puzzle. My desktop and laptop are connected to the same router and use a cable modem to connect to the internet using Roadrunner. The old laptop has an old processor and little memory; runs WinXP. The new desktop has a fast processor, four times the memory and runs XP. Other software (antivirus, firewall, browsers etc.) are the same for both computers. The old laptop has really snappy performance with web pages loading quickly. The desktop is very slow. In speed tests I have done, the laptop has downloads of 5,073 kbps and uploads of 479 kbps. The desktop has downloads of 12,638 kbps and uploads of a mere 21 kbps. Clearly, something is wrong with the settings on my desktop. Any suggestions?
